  • Patent number: 7134768
Abstract: Light emitted from a plurality of LED light sources can be introduced into a light guide and inwardly reflected (totally reflected) at a first reflective surface formed on the light guide to form a substantially collimated light. The substantially collimated light can then be inwardly reflected (totally reflected) at a second reflective surface and a third reflective surface. The light can then be led out of the light guide and emitted in a direction of illumination of the lamp. An increased amount of light provides a bright lamp. An arrangement of LEDs emitting different colored lights enables the different colored lights to be emitted at the same time or with time delays.

  • Patent number: 7121690
Abstract: Constructive occlusion type lighting systems utilize a reflective mask to cover a portion of an active optical surface, typically a Lambertian surface formed by the aperture of a diffusely reflective cavity, in order to distribute radiant energy with a tailored intensity distribution. Adjustment of the parameters of the constructive occlusion system enables the system designer to tailor the system performance to a wide range of applications. As disclosed herein, the constructive occlusion type distribution is combined with a diffuse distribution of a transmissive component, emitted through a wall of the system. For example, a diffusely reflective wall of the cavity may also be partially transmissive, to allow some energy to pass through and provide an additional illumination component, while continuing to maintain the characteristics to support the constructive occlusion component.

  • Patent number: 7121709
Abstract: A point-light-source type light emitting portion faces a light incident face located at a corner portion of a light guide plate. A light diffusion pattern for emitting the light in the light guide plate from a light emission face is on the lower surface of the light guide plate. A diffusion prism sheet is on the light emission face. A prism sheet including prisms each having a concentric shape with the light emitting portion at the center is on the lower surface of the diffusion prism sheet, and an uneven diffusion plate is on the upper surface of the diffusion prism sheet. Light emitted from the light emission face of the light guide plate along the light emission face is deflected in the direction perpendicular to the light guide plate by the prism sheet, and the angle of beam spread of the light is spread by the uneven diffusion plate.
