  • Patent number: 6862550
Abstract: A method of providing an indication of pH levels in an animal can alternatively be used to provide an indication of stress in an animal. Since pH and temperature are related to ultimate meat quality, the method of the invention may also be used to provide an indication of ultimate meat quality. In the method, periodic measurements are obtained corresponding to the body temperature of the animal. An algorithm is applied to the measurements obtained. The algorithm cumulatively takes account of variations of body temperature over time. The results of the algorithm are compared to a per-determined threshold. Alternatively, the results of the algorithm may be compared with a standard to provide a quantitative indication of pH, stress or meat tenderness. A system for providing an indication of meat quality/stress levels or pH levels in an animal is also provided.

  • Patent number: 6799135
Abstract: An analyzer system of the present invention is capable of customizing arbitrary setting of display/non-display input possible/input impossible setting for items used in condition setting or parameter input in a user interface such as a dialog box one at a time, and storing customized conditions for each user, and is capable of restoring setting conditions desired by each user as a result of the user reading out the stored information at the time of use.

  • Patent number: 6760689
Abstract: The system and method of the invention provide for remotely monitoring the operation of at least one turbine, the turbine being disposed in an operating location. The method comprises inputting input data from the turbine; and processing the input data to generate verified performance data, the processing including determining validity of the input data and performing at least one calculation on the input data, which is valid, to generate the verified performance data. The method further includes generating a collection of stored data in a database based on at least one of the input data and the verified performance data.

  • Patent number: 6748329
Abstract: A system and method is provided for characterizing earth formations. In one embodiment, the method includes passing a logging tool through a borehole and repeatedly: (a) triggering an acoustic wave generator; (b) recording acoustic waveforms received by receivers in the logging tool; (c) determining a time semblance of the recorded acoustic waveforms; and (d) smoothing the time semblance. In a different embodiment, a phase semblance of the recorded acoustic waveforms is determined and smoothed. The smoothing may be performed using an adaptive wavelet denoising technique or an adaptive moving average filter technique. In each case the average time or frequency spacing between semblance peaks is preferably determined and used to adapt the smoothing operation in a manner that varies with the slowness value s.

  • Patent number: 6584415
Abstract: A tool management method, when performing machining using a Numerical Control (NC) program, searches for cutting tool status information obtained as a result of having performed a machining simulation based on tool information, cutting condition information and the NC program, and on the other hand, actually measures tool wear at the time of actual cutting, estimates the tool wear from each of the items of information described above and judges permission to use a tool.
