Patent number: 5107475Abstract: An automatic disk changer is disclosed in which tray guides are provided on a large number of levels in a case at right and left portions thereof so that the center line of the guide on each of the levels at the right portion and that of the guide on the level at the left portion extend toward a tray transfer mechanism and meet each other in the form of a V. The tray transfer mechanism can be moved up and down between each of the guides and a disk player for playing a disk in a tray transferred by the tray transfer mechanism, be swung from a central portion to positions corresponding to the guides on each of the levels at the right and left portions, and be moved backward and forward, to and from each of the guides.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 1990Date of Patent: April 21, 1992Assignee: Pioneer Electronic CorporationInventors: Kaoru Serita, Masaaki Kiyomiya, Jun Takahasi, Masatoshi Watanabe, Masaki Iwamoto

Patent number: 5084854Abstract: An optical disk player having improved disk loading and optical pickup adjusting mechanisms. In accordance with one aspect of the invention, an optical disk loading device is disclosed in which rollers are inserted into a guide groove on a side face of a tray holding the optical disk thereon. The roller has a spherically expansive portion formed in the inserting portion into which the roller is inserted into the guide groove. In accordance with another aspect of the invention, there is disclosed a disk loading device for an optical disk reproducing apparatus in which the elevating member for raising and lowering the tray is disposed on only one side of the tray and the tray can be stably moved horizontally and vertically, while at least the lower half of the tray is left open and is available for the mounting of other components such as electronic circuits.Type: GrantFiled: January 17, 1990Date of Patent: January 28, 1992Assignee: Pioneer Electronic CorporationInventors: Yuji Ikedo, Hisashi Hamachi, Toshiaki Koizumi, Gen Inoshita, Takaaki Matsumoto

Patent number: 5077712Abstract: DAT system includes a transportable unit provided with a recording/reproducing magnetic head operatable with respect to a DAT cassette tape loaded thereto. The unit is fittable to a sleeve secured to an opening of a dashboard of an automobile, in which case the system is operatable only to reproduce the digital signal beforehand recorded on the DAT cassette tape. There is also provided a cabinet particularly adapted to be installed in home, having a mechanism cooperated with the transportable unit to perform recording operation as well as reproducing operation, when the unit is fitted to the cabinet.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 1989Date of Patent: December 31, 1991Assignee: Nakamichi CompanyInventor: Niro Nakamichi

Patent number: 5068841Abstract: A magneto-optical recording/reproducing device having a slider provided with a magnetic head. The slider floats over a magneto-optical disk when the magneto-optical disk is in rotation. The slider is supported by a suspension. A depressing force is exerted on the slider vertically by the suspension. The depressing force is adjusted by an adjustment device so that the depressing force due to the suspension increases as the slider shifts to an outer part of the magneto-optical disk from an inner part. Thus a floating gap between the slider and the magneto-optical disk becomes substantially constant irrespective of a radial position on the magneto-optical disk and a magnetic field intensity applied onto the magneto-optical disk from the slider (the magnetic head) becomes constant. As a result, stable recordomg, reproducing and erasing operations can be carried out.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 1990Date of Patent: November 26, 1991Assignee: Sharp Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Junichiro Nakayama, Hiroyuki Katayama, Kenji Ohta

Patent number: 5065379Abstract: In an automated data library comprising a plurality of storage areas each arranged to accept and store a data storage member, a reading device arranged to retrieve data from a data storage member, and carriage means arranged to selectively transfer data storage members between the storage area and the reading device. A lever is disposed along a side of the carriage adjacent the reading and is arranged for movement between a rest portion within the perimeter of the carriage and an extended position whereby the lever engages a data storage member extending from an opening in the reading device to fully insert the member into the device.Type: GrantFiled: April 10, 1990Date of Patent: November 12, 1991Assignee: Eastman Kodak CompanyInventors: Stephen P. Patent number: 5063554Abstract: A magneto-optic disk unit comprises a casing having an opening through which a disk cartridge is inserted into and extracted from the casing, a cartridge holder having an inserting opening for receiving the disk cartridge which is inserted through the opening of the casing, and an erroneous insertion preventing mechanism which is provided on the cartridge holder. The erroneous insertion preventing mechanism comprises an erroneous insertion preventing part which is provided in an inserting path of the disk cartridge and confronts a sloping surface of a magneto-optic disk cartridge which is inserted through the opening of the casing in a correct position for permitting the insertion of only the magneto-optic disk cartridge to a predetermined position within the cartridge holder when the magneto-optic disk cartridge is inserted in the correct position.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 1990Date of Patent: November 5, 1991Assignee: TEAC CorporationInventor: Keiji Uehara

Patent number: 5060207Abstract: A magneto-optical recording/reproducing apparatus includes a frame, a cartridge containing therein a magneto-optical recording disk, an optical head for applying an optical beam on the recording disk, an electromagnet for applying a bias magnetic field on the recording disk, a cartridge holder for holding therein the cartridge, a mechanism for reciprocating the cartridge holder between an insertion position and a loading position in which a recording, a reproducing and an erasing operations are carried out, a turn table for rotating the recording disk on the loading position, and a driving mechanism. The driving mechanism drives the electromagnet close to the recording disk when it is to be in the loading position and away from the recording disk when it is to be in the insertion position in opposite directions perpendicular to a plane of the recording disk in accordance with movement of the cartridge holder.Type: GrantFiled: October 27, 1989Date of Patent: October 22, 1991Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Tokuya Kaneda, Chikazu Yokoi
