Patent number: 5074089Abstract: The sealing device serves for tightly sealing the gap (6) between adjacent elements (1) of the inclined facade or roof against the access of water, by forming several sealing planes (A--A, B--B, C--C, D--D). To this effect a network of sealing pieces is created. These pieces each consist of a lower portion (21) and an upper one (22). The lower portion (21) also acts as a support for the elements and comprises a bearing surface (214) each between two sealing lips (212, 213). The upper portion (22) consists of a metal rail (22) and of a sealing stip (222) which overlaps the rail laterally and rest on the elements. That sealing strip which extends in the slope or direction of the fall comprises two substantially vertical webs (228). These webs form a drainage channel for water that may have penetrated, together with substantially parallel lateral sealing lips (224) which also seal the faces of the elements.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 1989Date of Patent: December 24, 1991Assignees: Mero-Raumstruktur GmbH & Co., Datwyler AG, Schweiz. Patent number: 5074092Abstract: The invention is a laminated wood product having superior appearance and dimensional stability. It has a core member of common lumber. This core member has been relieved in one of a number of ways to reduce or eliminate warping induced by internal stresses. Preferably this is accomplished by making kerfs in the edges or in the faces which extend almost completely through the product. Sheets of patched or otherwise relatively defect-free veneer are then laminated to each face of the core member. These prevent telegraphing of core defects and kerfs. A piece of clear or otherwise acceptable appearance grade lumber is then laminated to each edge of the product. Ultimately, appearance grade veneer is laminated to each face to create an assembly giving the appearance and utility of clear, solid sawn wood.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 1989Date of Patent: December 24, 1991Assignee: Weyerhaeuser CompanyInventor: Norman E. Patent number: 5072553Abstract: A shell structure for constituting the airflow shaft of a water-cooling tower comprises an upright frame support by ground foundations. The frame consists of a grid having at least three intersecting sets of bars, one of the sets comprising horizontal bars connected as to constitute circumferential girdles vertically distributed along the frame while the other two sets comprises bars which are at opposed angles with said horizontal bars, for defining a grid whose elemental pattern is an equilateral triangle. The bars are connected by nodes each receiving bars of all said sets. A veil defining a substantially continuous airflow stack is located within said frame and maintained in tension by connectons to the nodes of the frame. The frame may have a constant cross-section while the veil has a cross-section which varies along the vertical axis of the structure.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 1989Date of Patent: December 17, 1991Assignee: Electricite de France (Service National)Inventors: Pierre Bozetto, Jean-Marc Truchet, Marcel Barret, Guy Chauvier
