  • Patent number: 4480971
Abstract: A two-speed gerotor motor is disclosed of the type including a rotary disc valve member (55) of the type including valve passages (71 and 69) communicating between the inlet and outlet ports (61 and 65), respectively, and the fluid passages (57) defined by the port plate (19). The valve (55) also defines control valve passages (73) which communicate with an annular groove (75). Adjacent the valve member (55) is a valve seating mechanism (83) including a balancing ring member (85) which defines a plurality of axial passages (89) providing communication between a control fluid port (77) and the annular groove (75). As a result, the control valve passages may be communicated selectively with either the expanding volume chambers (29E) or the contracting volume chambers (29C).

  • Patent number: 4462774
Abstract: The rotary expander device combines a square working chamber with a three lobed sext-arcuate rotary working member which defines four expansible and contractible spandrel chambers in the corners of the square as the three lobed rotor revolves and its external surfaces make wiping contact with the interior surfaces of the square working chamber. Fluid flow from exterior intake and exhaust ports to four ports in the spandrel corners is controlled by a rotary valve coupled to the drive shaft, which is coupled to the center of the rotor. The ports and valving provide sequential spandrel chamber expansion and contraction with intake and exhaust of fluid as the sext-arcuate rotor revolves with its center describing a retrograde circular orbit around the center of the square chamber. The device may serve as either a motor when fluid driven or a pump when shaft driven.

  • Patent number: 4451218
Abstract: A vane-piston pump having a rotor supported eccentrically in a pump housing. The rotor is provided with slits for the passage through it of the vanes, and sealing strips are disposed at either side of the slits. The vanes slide along these sealing strips. Each sealing strip is subjected to the force of its own spring, and under the force of this spring, each sealing strip is pressed against the vanes. In this manner the spring forces can be kept smaller, so that friction is reduced. The vane-piston pump is preferably used in motor vehicles for generating compressed air in order to operate exhaust-gas treatment apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4449898
Abstract: A rotary valve for changing the connections of the fluid inlet passages and the fluid outlet passages of a Gerotor type fluid rotary machine in which the fluid is contracted and expanded by a plurality of cavities defined by the teeth formed on a stator and a rotor in response to the orbital rotation of the rotor formed with one less external tooth than the number of the internal teeth on the stator. The rotary valve selectively communicates the fluid passages with the Gerotor cavities by means of its rotary commutator which orbits with a phase difference of 90.degree. with respect to the Gerotor rotor, and the commutator is rotatably accommodated in a spacer disposed between an end cover and a port member having a plurality of fluid passages. The clearance at each side of the commutator is permanently determined by means of the width of the spacer. The commutator comprises spaced members that move in unison with a sealing ring interposed between the two members.

  • Patent number: 4439117
Abstract: A variable displacement vane pump has a ported casing (10), a rotor (28) and a first (32a) and second (32b) plurality of vanes. The ported casing (10) has a pair of relatively rotatable, complementary cams (18, 20). Each cam has a surface shaped to provide a curvilinear annular track (18a, 20a). The rotor (28) is rotatably mounted in the casing (10). The vanes (32a, 32b) are slidably mounted upon the rotor (28). Each of the vanes (32a, 32b) are sized and positioned to engage a corresponding one of the pair of cams (18, 20). The vanes of the first plurality (32a) of vanes engage one of the cams (18), the other cam (20) being engaged by the vanes of the second pluarlity (32b). Thus constructed, the vanes (32a, 32b) can move in pairs in a closed path within the casing (10). The vanes (32 a, 32b) of each pair can ride on different ones of the cams (18, 20). By rotating the cams (18, 20) with respect to each other, the phasing of the vanes (32a, 32b) in each pair can be altered.

  • Patent number: 4426199
Abstract: A rotary machine, particularly a planetary gear motor, has a control plate 4, two annular channels (18, 19) which are arranged on the inner circumference of a cup-shaped housing section 7 and stationary commutators (8, 9) which are arranged side by side adjacent the annular channels. The control channels are coupled together when the transit channel 15 and when the plate and one of the annular channels are aligned with an open corner channel 16 and alternately with the annular channels. A simply shaped and simply manufactured commutator includes two like-formed disk-shaped commutators, which completely intersect alternately with each other. Transit channels 15 are provided and, with the plate cam and one of the annular channels, open into corner channels 16. Both commutators are arranged in such a way that at times a transit channel of a commutator adjoins a corner channel of the other commutator and vice versa.
