Abstract: In an embodiment, a disc cutter for use on a tunnel boring machine may include a shaft and a cutter assembly rotatably mounted on the shaft. The cutter assembly may include a cutter ring extending circumferentially about a central axis and one or more bearing apparatuses rotatably mounting the cutter assembly to the shaft. Each bearing apparatuses may include a rotor extending circumferentially about the central axis and a first plurality of superhard bearing elements distributed circumferentially about the central axis. Abstract: A pick assembly is provided, comprising a bit assembly and a holder assembly; the bit assembly comprising a bit support body, a fastener mechanism and a deflectable member, cooperatively configured such the deflectable member can be deflected responsive to the progressive coupling of the bit support body to the fastener mechanism. The holder assembly comprises a holder body and is configured for accommodating and retaining the bit assembly by interference means. The holder assembly and bit assembly are cooperatively configured such that the retention of the bit assembly by the holder assembly by interference means can be progressively increased responsive to the progressive coupling of the bit support body with the fastener mechanism when the bit assembly is accommodated by the holder assembly, operative to prevent substantial movement of the bit support body relative to the holder body in use.

Abstract: The present invention pertains to a mineral exploitation method and, more specifically, to a method for extracting potassium salts from underground deposits. Abstract: The invention relates to the storage of contaminated material under a water layer, in particular the storage of bottom ash. The invention provides for this purpose a method for storing a contaminated material under a water layer, comprising the processing steps of supplying the contaminated material, supplying ground material, mixing the contaminated material with the ground material and arranging the mixture of contaminated material and ground material in or under a retention layer situated under a water layer, and wherein the mixture is not in contact with the water layer, and the retention layer comprises ground material. Abstract: A pavement diamond grinder used for grinding and/or grooving pavement surfaces as the grinder carriage with a rotating arbor supporting radio blades. A cooling and dust control system delivers water to the arbor. The system includes a spray bar with nozzles that atomizes the water prior to engagement with the blades. The system utilizes a wiper debris removal device to clean the blades. In addition, a device that is utilized to effect turbulence adjacent to the blades and improve contact of the atomized water with the blades.
Abstract: A method for forming a subsurface wellbore is disclosed. The method includes operating a drilling string in a first direction of rotation. A first motor located near the end of the drilling string is operated in a direction of rotation opposite that of the drilling string. A drill bit is rotated using a second motor that is coupled to the first motor.

Abstract: A quick change type bit/bit holder includes several different structures for holding the item in a bit block without the necessity of a fastener. The bit portion of the bit/bit holder combination includes a ductile steel insert with a polycrystalline diamond coated tungsten carbide bit positioned therein. The ductility of the steel insert acts as a shock absorber to allow the bit to successfully remove concrete as well as asphalt in a road milling machine.

Abstract: The present invention includes methods and a system for treating a mass of contaminated media using ammonia. The methods include determining the amount of ammonia required for treatment using various calculation methods and combining the ammonia with air or another carrier gas to create a gas mixture. The methods and system utilize at least one injection well inserted into the contaminated media to deliver the gas mixture over a period ranging from approximately 1 week to approximately 8 weeks.

Abstract: An equipment for installing silt fencing includes a motive vehicle with an attached trencher to cut a trench having a predetermined depth and width. The trencher includes a cutting wheel and a trenching foot having a predetermined width for determining a width of a trench cut with the trenching assembly. The trencher is vertically positionable and a gauge is provided to the operator for controlling the depth of the trench as terrain and soil condition varies. The cutting wheel and trenching foot are also rotatable to control the orientation of the trench with respect to plumb. The equipment may also include a silt fence installation station including a power hammer on a positionable boom for another operator to use to drive the silt fence stakes into the ground. The equipment may also include a back filler on a side opposite the trencher for backfilling the trench.
Abstract: A construction machine for the treatment of ground surfaces includes a machine frame, a drive motor, a work drum supported from the machine frame and including exchangeable tools fastened to the work drum, a belt drive and an auxiliary drive. The belt drive includes a motor-side pulley connected to the drive motor, a drum-side pulley connected to the work drum, and at least one drive belt connecting the motor-side pulley to the drum-side pulley. The auxiliary drive may be permanently coupled to the belt drive, or the auxiliary drive may include an adjustment mechanism for moving the auxiliary drive between a coupled and an uncoupled position.

A grinding body (6) of a surface grinding device (1) of a pavement surface is composed of a rotation shaft (13) and several blades (14).
