  • Patent number: 6736346
Abstract: There is disclosed an apparatus for winding a cord, and more particularly, an apparatus for winding a cord, in which a winding operation and a wind stopping operation are performed by pulling the cord of an ear-microphone of a portable cordless telephone. The cord winding and the wind stopping operations can be performed by a cord pulling operation without a separate operation of a release button, thereby providing convenience to the user. Further, while the ball is moved along the guide grooves, the winding and stopping operations are performed. Therefore, the ball functions as a moving bearing upon a rotation operation of the bobbin so that the bobbin is facilely rotated, thereby preventing an erroneous operation of the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5501415
Abstract: A light-tight enclosure (10) for storing and dispensing a roll of photosensitive web material (32) directly in a cooperating apparatus without need for an auxiliary cartridge. The web is wound about a cylindrical core (34, 68, 74) having flush, closed opposite ends (36) and an axial bore (38) in each end. The core may be closed by integral ends or by fullfitting plugs (76). The enclosure comprises a flexible opaque bag (12) with opposite sidewalls (16) extending between opposing rearward and forward portions (18 and 20) and between opposing upper and lower portions (22 and 24). Each sidewall has a central aperture therein congruent with each core end. The rearward portion defines a closable opening for receiving the roll. A shallow neck portion (26) projects from the forward portion to an end (28) thereof defining an exit slot (30) for dispensing the web material.

  • Patent number: 5065952
Abstract: A film cassette comprises a spool rotatable to thrust a filmstrip coiled about the spool out of the cassette shell, and an exposure status indicator rotatable from an unexposed position to an exposed position for providing respective indications that the filmstrip is unexposed or is exposed. According to the invention, a shroud substantially surrounds a circumferential edge of the status indicator to prevent one from manually grasping the edge in order to rotate the indicator from its unexposed position to its exposed position. However, the shroud allows a top face of the status indicator to be accessed by an actuating mechanism in a camera, for example, to rotate the indicator from the unexposed position to the exposed position.

  • Patent number: 4948065
Abstract: A spring powered cable reel, particularly for a vacuum cleaner, comprises a rotatable drum (10) from which the cable (3) is wound off during tightening of the spring (12). The drum is prevented from rotation in the winding-up direction by a brake which is releasable to allow the cable to be wound up. The brake is adapted to be locked in the released position by means of a catch assembly (17,21,24) which is actuatable by the torque of the spring (12) to apply the brake when the torque exceeds a predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 4944468
Abstract: An improved rotatable and expandable spindle assembly, which is adapted for cantilever mounting in and on a machine base. The spindle assembly has an integrally mounted multi-ported directional control valve for point of use operation. The valve is connected to a constant supply of a pressurized medium and is mounted at and on the free end of the spindle assembly. The spindle and valve arrangement is adapted for a rapid expansion or collapsing of the spindle when and as desired by an operator.

  • Patent number: 4919355
Abstract: An emergency locking safety belt retractor having a safety belt storage spool, a locking ratchet turnable with the spool, a locking pawl for preventing spool rotation when engaged with the locking ratchet, a programming ratchet turnable with the spool and a locking pawl actuating means operable in response to a change in vehicle inertia sensed by a vehicle inertial sensor has an improvement in such locking pawl actuating means including the provision of a flexible member having a programming ratchet engageable tooth provided thereon, a connection between such member and the locking pawl for moving the locking pawl into a lockup with the spool mounted ratchet when the member is moved in response to a change in vehicle inertia sensed by the associated sensor and a closed loop cam way is associated with a follower on the member which causes the flexible member to store energy while being moved by the programming ratchet to cause the locking pawl lockup which is released after such lockup and then moved in a mann

  • Patent number: 4770361
Abstract: A web takeup apparatus comprising a takeup core, a guide assembly and a position setting device. The takeup core has a substantially cylindrical shape and is rotatable by a drive mechanism. This core defines a slit for receiving a leading end of the web, and contains an engaging mechanism at a position adjacent the slit for engaging the leading end of the web. The guide assembly acts to guide the leading end of the web to the takeup core when in an initial position, the guide assembly being movable from the initial position. The position setting device acts to set the slit of the takeup core to a position opposed to an outlet opening of the guide assembly in the initial position.

  • Patent number: 4694557
Abstract: A leader tape staking rod and related method of assembly are provided. The staking rod includes an injection molded, elongated member having two opposing, substantially flat sides, two opposing, substantially curved sides, a first end and a second end, and a square-shaped opening formed through the elongated member from the first end to the second end. The method uses a tool having a corresponding square-shaped tip for engaging and transporting the staking rod to the vicinity of the leader block which receives the leader tape in a substantially cylindrical opening. The staking rod is then inserted into the opening formed in the leader block in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the opening with its two opposing, substantially flat sides adjacent the mouth of the opening.

  • Patent number: 4566647
Abstract: In a decorative winding method for a magnetic tape or the like, a tape reel comprising a lower flange and a reel shaft one end of which is secured to the lower flange is supported with the other end of the reel shaft facing up. One end of a tape is clamped to the reel shaft, and the tape is wound up on the reel shaft while the tape is pushed onto the lower flange side by the weight of a cap placed on the upper side edge of the tape. An upper flange is then secured to the other end of the reel shaft, thereby obtaining the tape reel with the tape wound up in an aligned winding appearance.

  • Patent number: 4565338
Abstract: A seat belt retractor comprises a belt reel rotatably mounted in a frame, a ratchet wheel coupled to the belt reel for rotation therewith, and a pawl supported on the frame for movement between locking and unlocking positions with the ratchet wheel. A mechanism responsive to rotational acceleration of the belt reel above a selected level moves the pawl to the locking position. A mechanism responsive to a selected amount of rotation of the belt reel in the belt-unwinding direction automatically urges the pawl resiliently to the locked position. This mechanism also responds to a selected amount of rewinding of the belt by automatically urging the pawl resiliently to the unlocked position.

  • Patent number: 3963187
Abstract: This invention provides a wrinkle-proof mechanism for a paper roll supply to a cutter in which a plurality of paper rolls are arranged linearly in two vertical stages and whereby the paper strip unwound from any one of said paper rolls excluding the foremost positioned roll is guided preferably linearly over the forwardly positioned paper roll or rolls to a fixed roller so that said paper strip will not hold or embrace the forwardly positioned paper roll or rolls. Movable rollers are provided between the foremost positioned paper rolls and said fixed roller, said movable rollers being arranged to move downward in proportion to the diameter of the paper roll decrease so that the angle at which said paper strip holds the foremost positioned paper roll is sharply reduced to thereby keep the paper strip free of wrinkles and reduce the braking force of the foremost paper roll.
