Abstract: Systems and methods for providing fast forwarding recommendations based on the user's consumption history are disclosed. The consumption history includes data relating to attributes that were previously rewinded and watched and those that were skipped and forwarded. It also includes scores for attributes that were present and absent in a portion that was previously rewinded or forwarded. A score is assigned to the attributes and used for determining a consumption pattern. If the consumption pattern indicates that the user previously rewinded and watched the attribute, then a recommendation not to skip an upcoming portion that includes the attribute is provided. A graphical timeline that depicts the amount of time saved by skipping the portion of the media asset with the attribute is also provided.

Abstract: A method for receiving and displaying media content may be provided. The method may include requesting a set of DASH video segments that are associated with various viewports and qualities. The method may include displaying the DASH video segments. The method may include determining a latency metric based on a time difference between the display of a DASH video segment and one of: a device beginning to move, the device ceasing to move, the device determining that the device has begun to move, the device determining that the device has stopped moving, or the display of a different DASH video segment. The different DASH video segment may be associated with one or more of a different quality or a different viewport.

The video distribution system includes one or more computer processors that execute computer-readable instructions to: display a display instruction object on a distributor user device that is used by the distributor user in response to reception of a first display request for a first gift from a viewing user; and display the first gift in the video in response to operation on the display instruction object.

The method determines when a refresh of the electronic programming guide should be performed. When it is determined that the refresh should be performed, if a second list of ranked entities is available: the method uses the second list of ranked entities to determine a second ordering of entities in slots of an electronic programming guide and outputs information to display at least a portion of the second ordering of entities in slots of the electronic programming guide to update the electronic programming guide for the refresh.

Abstract: Embodiments described herein provide various examples of monitoring adverse events in the background while displaying a higher-resolution surgical video on a lower-resolution display device. In one aspect, a process for detecting adverse events during a surgical procedure can begin by receiving a surgical video. The process then displays a first portion of the video images of the surgical video on a screen to assist a surgeon performing the surgical procedure. While displaying the first portion of the video images, the process uses a set of deep-learning models to monitor a second portion of the video images not being displayed on the screen, wherein each deep-learning model is constructed to detect a given adverse event among a set of adverse events. In response to detecting an adverse event in the second portion of the video images, the process notifies the surgeon of the detected adverse event to prompt an appropriate action.

Abstract: Live event production and distribution networks, systems, apparatuses and methods related thereto are described herein. The described innovations may be used not only to present live events to audiences, but to do so in a way that provides audience energy and feedback to the performer(s) (e.g., a band) in a manner akin to that which they receive during a traditional live performance, thereby energizing and motivating the performers to give the best live performance they can, even in the absence of a co-located live audience. Some or all of the audience members may be represented by a visual surrogate displayed on an audience feedback screen set up to be viewable by the performers. The screen may be sized to fill a curtain window of stage on which the performers are performing, and the performers may optionally interact with one or more people in the audience during the live performance.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for resolving an unresolved plot or storyline of a series and resolving it. A user may not view all episodes in a series of episodes, particularly if the series runs over a long period of time, such as several years. The user may however be interested and curious to know how the series ends, with reference to a storyline that runs throughout the series. Therefore the disclosure provides methods and systems for determining if a user is interested in the resolution of an unresolved storyline and generating a resolution video for display.

Abstract: An eye center localization method includes performing an image sketching step, a frontal face generating step, an eye center marking step and a geometric transforming step. The image sketching step is performed to drive a processing unit to sketch a face image from the image. The frontal face generating step is performed to drive the processing unit to transform the face image into a frontal face image according to a frontal face generating model. The eye center marking step is performed to drive the processing unit to mark a frontal eye center position information on the frontal face image. The geometric transforming step is performed to drive the processing unit to calculate two rotating variables between the face image and the frontal face image, and calculate the eye center position information according to the two rotating variables and the frontal eye center position information.

Abstract: Spiders scans websites. A ghost spider scans VR/Metaverse “rooms”. The ghost spider does not use an avatar to represent itself when it visits rooms. It has no visible presence to avatars. A ghost spider can follow an avatar, documenting its activities. A room can have policies on forbidden items for avatars. Two common problems with rooms are (a) unauthorised use of trademarks; (b) when users with avatars visit a room, (zombie) avatars often remain logged in and static, as their users do other tasks. The room falsely benefits in attendance numbers with zombies present. Our specification attacks both problems.
