  • Patent number: 6615815
Abstract: A shooting mechanism of an anti-violence gun, more particularly a shooting mechanism shoots spherical bullet body for deterrence through air pressure. The present invention mainly comprises a barrel with a bore connected rearward; a tension spring is disposed inside the bore and expands a shuttle tube which has a high pressured air bottle loaded at the rear aspect thereof. Before using the gun, the shuttle tube is fixed by an insert cotter; after a lift-press plate releases the insert cotter, the air bottle rapidly withdraws toward the rear end of the bore and is punctured by a push needle disposed at a rear end thereof such that the high pressured air inside the high pressured air bottle reversely pushes and presses the spherical body thereby achieving an objective of shooting safely for deterrence.

  • Patent number: 6606934
Abstract: Presented is a gas operated, semi-automatic rifle having a shortened barrel. For actuating a receiver to provide the semi-automatic feature, the rifle has a gas system including a gas cylinder assembly attached to the barrel at a second angular position relative to the barrel. For linking the gas cylinder assembly with the receiver, an operating rod is provided having a charging arm engaging the receiver and a distal end located at a first angular position relative to the barrel. The gas cylinder assembly and the distal end are hence coextensive to each other, eliminating the length of the barrel otherwise necessary to position the gas cylinder assembly and the distal end in a linear relationship. To provide for interaction between the gas cylinder assembly and the operating rod, an abutment block is attached to the operating rod and positioned at the second angular location.

  • Patent number: 6595098
Abstract: A missile launch assembly for underwater vehicles includes a launch tank having mounted therein an expandable elastomeric disc and a turbine, a water inlet conduit, an impulse tank interconnecting the water inlet conduit and a missile launch tube, and a pump inducer mounted in the water inlet conduit and drivable by the turbine. Movement of the disc from an expanded to a non-expanded condition causes water in the launch tank to drive the turbine to drive the pump inducer to pump water from the water inlet conduit to the impulse tank and thence to the launch tube to effect launch of a missile therein.

  • Patent number: 6520172
Abstract: An electrically operated paintball gun operable to shoot paintballs including a barrel, a trigger, and a breech connected to a rear end of the barrel, as well as a bolt movable in the breech between a rearward position and a forward shooting position. A spring biases the bolt towards the rearward position. A pneumatic circuit is provided to drive the bolt towards the forward position and includes a control valve in the form of a solenoid valve to receive gas under pressure and direct it into a chamber at the rear of the bolt when the gun is shot. An electronic circuit controls the pneumatic circuit and is operated by an electrical switch operated by the trigger. A gas valve mechanism is opened by engagement by the bolt, when the latter is driven forwardly to the shooting position, to permit the passage of relatively high pressure propellant gas into the barrel to propel a paintball.

  • Patent number: 6499247
Abstract: A method of adjustably positioning and attaching mounting rings to a firearm for subsequent attachment of an optical gun sight (telescopic sight) within the rings. Two separate beams of coherent or monochromatic light are utilized, both of which are directed onto a remote target. The first beam is created from a bore sighting assembly which directs its beam through the bore of the firearm. The second beam originates from a hollow cylindrical light source mounted within the rings, the outer diameter of the hollow cylinder being designed to mate within the actual mounting rings which are being positioned. With both beams simultaneously impinging upon the remote target, the user may then positionably adjust the rings retaining the second source of coherent light so that the user, with data on the ballistics of the ammunition to be used, may accurately pre-adjust the mounting rings on the firearm prior to mounting the scope within the mounting rings.

  • Patent number: 6490959
Abstract: In order to provide a gun in which the recoil force attendant with actuation is reduced, a prototype model of a telescoping barrel gun has been designed. In this design, an inner barrel, which contains and directs the projectile, is made to slide forward within an outer barrel when the gun is actuated. The motion of the inner barrel is then stopped while the projectile moves unimpeded. The telescoping barrel design functions together with a design which requires a portion of the cartridge's propellant energy be used to produce a reduction in the force of the gun's recoil when fired. Upon firing, some of the propellant gases are channeled forward in the gun to an air space, which lies between the two concentric barrels. The forward motion of the inner barrel forces the gases in this air space from the gun through small holes located in the distal area of the outer barrel. The discharge of these gases is rearwardly directed in order to counteract the gun's recoil.

  • Patent number: 6477805
Abstract: The present invention relates to the field of plant growth units, and more particularly pertains to an apparatus for plant cultivation which conserves horizontal space and utilizes vertical space, while providing for the growth of plants which are cultivated in an indoor environment. The plant growth unit comprises a nutrient supply module and one or more columns radially disposed about a central vertical longitudinal axis thereby defining an internal space between the one or more columns designed to accommodate a light source. Each column is in fluid communication with the nutrient supply module for circulation of a liquid nutrient flow. The one or more columns support a plurality of growth sites, which are radially disposed about the longitudinal axis and generally face the internal space. Each growth site is positioned to contact the liquid nutrient flow.

  • Patent number: 6453593
Abstract: An improved gun barrel for use in combination with an air gun body for firing soft walled projectiles having a substantially fluid interior such as paintballs. The barrel features a plurality of longitudinal grooves operatively positioned on the interior wall of the axial chamber of the barrel to cooperatively engage portions the sidewall of the deformed soft projectile traveling therethrough. The soft projectile, such as a paint ball, is thereby prevented from rotating due to contact multiple contacts within the slots in the wall surface of the axial chamber and exits the barrel substantially void of any spin. Additional utility is provided by a scavenger located on the distal end of the barrel communicating through the barrel wall to the axial chamber to thereby vent compressed gas creating eddies behind a soft projectile during exit from the barrel.

  • Patent number: 6412387
Abstract: In the field of landmine clearance there is a need for a detonator member that is effective in detonating mines whilst protecting any apparatus to which it is secured. The invention relates to a detonator member (10) comprising two inclined plates (12, 13) secured together along a common edge to define a fulcrum (14). The plates are pivotably suspended from a further, moveable member (22) so that the axis of pivoting lies forward of the fulcrum (14). On downward movement of the further member (22) the fulcrum engages the ground (23) and causes the plates to pivot so that one of them (12) lies flat on the ground (23). This plate (12) detonates any landmines under it. During the detonation the plate (12) flips upwardly to a substantially vertical, blast-deflecting position. The other plate (13) limits the travel of blast deflecting plate (12), by virtue of contact with the ground (23).
