    Abstract: A hydraulic capsule can comprise a hollow capsule body for setting the location of a plunger, a latch set alignable with a latch groove, and a latch-setting insert. The plunger can be configured to push the latch set towards the latch-setting insert. A lost motion spring can be incorporated into the hydraulic capsule, or the lost motion spring can be installed in capsule bore where the hydraulic capsule is mounted. Either a hydraulic capsule or an electromagnetic capsule or a drop in assembly can be installed in a capsule mount in a rocker arm to form a type III cam-actuated rocker arm. The rocker arm can comprise a cam side arm and a valve side arm. The rocker arm can be configured to balance a moment of inertia of the deactivation components. Twisting forces on the cam can be counteracted.

    Abstract: A turbine blade for a gas turbine, having a blade root and an aerodynamically curved blade airfoil arranged above the blade root. The blade airfoil has a pressure-side and a suction-side blade wall, together extending from a leading edge, that can receive a flow of working medium, to a trailing edge. A multiplicity of cooling air outlet openings are formed on the pressure-side blade wall, which extend upstream from the trailing edge with respect to the flow direction, and through these openings cooling air that is conveyed through the interior of the blade airfoil can exit. At least one of the cooling air outlet openings has a substantially rectangular or trapezoidal shape with rounded corners. At least the lower corner, pointing towards the leading edge, of the cooling air outlet opening forms a relief notch, which projects outwardly from the rectangular shape, with a rounded notch bottom.

    Abstract: An electronic phaser system configured for use in an engine system is provided. The electronic phaser system comprises an intake camshaft, an electronic phaser and an engine control module (ECM). The intake camshaft has a plurality of camshaft lobes. The electronic phaser couples a gearbox to the intake camshaft. The electronic phaser is configured to rotationally advance the intake camshaft an amount of crank degrees to a desired rotational position. The ECM targets a desired cranking compression ratio based on one of an engine stop request and an engine start request. The ECM converts the desired cranking compression ratio into a camshaft lobe centerline position and commands the electronic phaser to rotate the intake camshaft to the desired rotational position that satisfies the camshaft lobe centerline position to achieve the desired cranking compression ratio. The desired cranking compression ratio is between 5:1 and 6:1.
