  • Patent number: 8668486
Abstract: An extruder die designed to produce a spiral corn-based snack food product with consistent, tight spiral pitch and the resultant food product. The extruder die has a center post parallel to the flow path along with three cone-shaped receiving ports arranged in a cloverleaf pattern around the center post. The die has three curved slots on the output side of the die which are in fluid communication with the cone-shaped receiving ports. At the distal end of each of these slots is a semi-circular tip. The tip has a diameter larger than the width of its associated slot. Further, the tip is located at the apex of a cone-shaped receiving port with which it is in fluid communication, thus providing for the highest flow velocity of the extrudate through the tip. The resultant flow profile produces the consistent spiral shape of the snack product produced by the die design described.

  • Patent number: 8647090
Abstract: An injection nozzle for electrospinning including a first nozzle body and a second nozzle body detachably coupled with each other and nozzle members inserted in the first and second nozzle bodies and an electrospinning device using the nozzle. The electrospinning device basically performs air electrospinning wherein a source liquid for fiber is injected together with air while the source liquid for fiber is discharged through the nozzle members, and pure electrospinning without air injection can be efficiently carried out by separating the second nozzle body in such a manner that the lower ends of the nozzle members are exposed for a predetermined length or more. Therefore, according to the present invention, pure electrospinning, air electrospinning or hot air electrospinning may be selectively carried out.

  • Patent number: 8641396
Abstract: Foil extrusion lines use spiral distributors for producing a melt which is as homogeneous as possible during operation. The spiral distributors are mostly available as cylindrical or conical axial spiral distributors or as radial spiral distributors. The spiral distributors have spiral channels that run in a multiple spiral arrangement so that rather flat horizontal edges are formed precisely in initial sections and vertical edges are formed between the beginning of spiral channels and transition sections of adjacent spiral channels. The melt can easily adhere there. To accelerate the melt in critical areas, the course or the cross-section of the channels or the surface are modified.

  • Patent number: 8641397
Abstract: A spiral distributor for a die head of a foil extrusion line has spiral channels provided with shortening sections in their backward area. As compared to a geometrical rule for a discontinuation of the spiral channels which is valid in a prior section of the spiral channels, this arrangement leads to a faster discontinuation of the spiral channels. The design of the backward area of the spiral channels does not affect the good overlaying effect of the front part of the spiral channels. As compared to the customary embodiment, the channels are thus equipped with a less profiled backward end which leads to a more cost-effective manufacture and to a lesser flow resistance.

  • Patent number: 8580167
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for producing Lyocell fibers which are extruded from a cellulose solution of water, cellulose and tertiary amine oxide in a spinning head (25). The cellulose solution is obtained in a number of process steps directly from the cellulose (3, 4) or with the formation of a cellulose suspension. Since the degree of polymerization decreases in the course of processing the cellulose through to its extrusion in the cellulose solution, with the processing of celluloses with a low degree of polymerization there is the risk that the endless molded bodies (2) extruded in the spinning head (25) exhibit defective quality.
