Abstract: In a method and apparatus for the electronic distribution of digitised information on demand, remote and/or local mass data stores are used to store digitised information for use in the generation of products such as software media. Available products and related information can be searched, browsed and requested at a local fulfilment unit; or requests can be made remotely. The products generated and associated packaging, certificates of authenticity, instruction manuals and licence numbers may optionally include customer specific information, and customer given personalisation. Additional security features include storing essential parts of the digitised information remotely so that products can not be generated using only locally stored information; and recording the digitised information on the at least final segments of longer than standard format CDs preventing complete copies onto CDs of standard format.

Abstract: A method and system for enabling electronic delivery of files is disclosed. The method and system include maintaining a data repository for storing information relating to the files available in the digital marketplace, wherein the information includes business rules associated with each file that define electronic transfer of the files during commercial transactions. In response to a first user requesting to resell a particular file and thereby becoming a reseller, the data repository is accessed to dynamically generate a reseller uniform resource locator (RURL) that uniquely identifies the reseller and the file. The RURL is then provided to the reseller for posting on a website in order to make the file commercially available to others on the website.

Abstract: A system is proposed for performing transactions with terminals which fundamentally allow a plurality of different transactions to be performed. The terminals (10, 11) are connected for this purpose via a terminal network (30) with at least one node computer (40, 41) via which they can be set up for performing a transaction. The suitability for performing a further, hitherto unprepared transaction can be provided later anytime without any special setup measures. A terminal (10, 11) requests for this purpose data providing the functionality required for performing the further transaction from a node computer (40, 41) following a trigger signal designating the further transaction. The transaction is then performed in interaction between a terminal (10, 11) and a node computer (40, 41).

Abstract: Order data is transmitted from a computer that has been installed at a travel agency to a center server. The order data is transmitted from the server to a photo lab. An order form is printed by an order-form printer located in the photo lab. Film having an image that complies with the order is found in a film library in accordance with the specifics written on the order form. The film that has been found is duplicated by a developing apparatus. The duplicated film and the order form are sealed in an envelope and mailed to the travel agency.

Abstract: An online card-present transaction system facilitates card-present type transactions with a merchant over a public network. A host system is configured to accept authentication data from a user via an authentication device. The host system, after authenticating a user is configured to retrieve the user's account information from a user database system and translate a user account number into a temporary transaction number. The temporary transaction number is then transmitted directly from the host system to the merchant, thereby eliminating the need for the user to send to the merchant over the internet, the user's transaction account number.

Abstract: A content usage management system includes a terminal device using content as digital production and a server device managing usage of the content on the terminal device. The server device includes a license information memory unit that memorizes license information indicating a usage rule of the content based on a user of the terminal device, and a license ticket issuance unit that generates a license ticket as right information indicating a part or all of a usage rule on the license information corresponding to the user based on a request from the user. The terminal device includes a requesting unit that requests usage of the content to the server device according to the user's designation, a receiving unit that receives the license ticket sent from the server device, and a content usage control unit that controls usage of the content according to the usage rule indicated on the received license ticket.

Abstract: A contents mediating system for allowing the user who requests contents to easily obtain cheap contents. A contents storing unit 4 stores contents provided from a provider terminal 1. A contents analysis search unit 6 searches the contents in the contents storing unit 4 on the basis of use request information from a contents user terminal 9 and extracts the contents. A contents distributing unit 303 distributes the contents to a Web contents memory unit 8 which is used by the user. A contents settlement unit 5 makes a charging settlement of a use consideration to the user and a supply settlement of a provision consideration to the provider.
