Abstract: A capillary device (102) for use in a heat pipe in which heat is transferred from at least one evaporation region to at least one condensation region by means of evaporated working fluid is disclosed. The capillary device comprises a body portion defining chambers (108) containing powdered material (110) therein, wherein at least part of the periphery of at least one said chamber is porous to allow flow of condensed working fluid, by means of capillary action, through said powdered material in said chamber when flowing from a condensation region to an evaporation region.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the impact treatment of transition radii (8) of a crankshaft (4, 4?), in particular transition radii (8) between connecting rod bearing journals (5, 5?) and crank webs (7, 7?) and/or transition radii (8) between main bearing journals (6, 6?) and the crank webs (7, 7?) of the crankshaft (4, 4?). The crankshaft (4, 4?) is then rotated along a rotational direction into an impact position by means of a drive device (3, 3?). A locking device (12) is provided in order to lock the crankshaft (4, 4?) in the impact position, and an impact force is then introduced into at least one transition radius (8) by at least one impact tool (16, 16?).

Abstract: A piston ring that is pre-treated by grit blasting to a defined roughness, followed by PVD coating with a metal nitride to a thickness of at least 10 ?m, leaving peaks and valleys in the coated piston ring. The coated piston ring is then lapped to remove the peaks without penetrating the coating, so that valleys and plateaus remain in the coated surface. The resulting piston ring exhibits superior coating retention due to the increased surface area created by the grit blasting, and yet also superior performance, as the cavities remaining increase the porosity of the coating and thus enhance the lubrication of the ring.

Abstract: A balloon wrapping apparatus for folding a balloon at a distal portion of an elongated shaft includes: a pleating section that forms the balloon with pleats; a folding section that folds the pleats formed in the balloon, along a circumferential direction; and a support base that supports the shaft and can be moved toward and away from the pleating section. The pleating section includes an insertion hole through which the balloon can be inserted, and a back surface hole provided in a back surface on the side opposite to the side on which the insertion hole is provided. The pleating section includes an assisting shaft which can be inserted into the back surface hole from the rear surface side, and an interlock portion interlocking the assisting shaft with the support base. Abstract: A device for joining a lens to a housing of a lighting device of a motor vehicle, having a receptacle device for accommodating and securing the housing, a pre-centering device for aligning and clamping the lens on the housing during an alignment procedure, and having a holding device for accommodating the lens after the alignment procedure and for holding the lens during an adjustment process, wherein the holding device is releasably attached to the pre-centering device by fastening elements during the alignment operation, and wherein the pre-centering device, together with the accommodated lens and the holding device attached to the pre-centering device is movable relative to the receptacle device during the alignment procedure such that the lens and the holding device can be aligned on the housing accommodated in the receptacle device.
Abstract: Provided are seat track fittings and methods for installing passenger seats in aircraft cabins using these seat track fittings such that the same seat can be installed on different types of seat tracks. A seat track fitting comprises a leg support, a pin, and a base interconnecting the leg support and pin. During installation of the seat track fitting, the pin is inserted into an attachment opening of the seat track. The attachment opening is selected based on the desired position of a seat. A removable fastener then protrudes through the base of the seat track fitting and is inserted into another attachment opening of the seat track. The seat is then attached to the seat track fitting by inserting the stud end of the seat into the leg support of the seat track fitting and fixing the stud end within the leg support.

Abstract: An method for forming a cooling apparatus for cooling an electronic component. The apparatus has a planar top member of a thermal energy conductive material and a parallel planar bottom member of the material, the planar bottom member including a surface having regions configured for heat exchange contact with the electronic component. The planar top member has a plurality of stamped indent formations at a plurality of locations, each indent formation providing a contact surface such that the planar top member is affixed to the bottom member by braze or solder at each contact surface. Alternatively, the planar bottom member also has a plurality of stamped indent formations in alignment with indent formations of the top member. The planar top member is affixed to the bottom member by brazing or soldering each respective contact surface of an indent formation of the planar top member to an opposing contact surface of a corresponding indent formation of the parallel planar bottom member.

The turbulating insert is permeable to fluid flow in both a high-pressure-drop direction and a low-pressure drop direction. One portion of the turbulating insert has the high-pressure-drop direction oriented at a non-zero angle to the high-pressure-drop direction of another portion. A method of making the heat exchanger includes forming a turbulating insert, removing a portion of the turbulating insert to create a cavity within the turbulating insert, placing the remaining turbulating insert into a stamped first plate, and placing the removed portion of the turbulating insert into the cavity at a non-zero angle of rotation relative to the remaining turbulating insert.

The manufacturing station includes a processing area having a working point and a processing apparatus. A security partition surrounds the processing area and has a secure access point for workpiece transport. The manufacturing station further includes an automatic loading apparatus with loading robots. The loading apparatus loads and unloads workpieces onto and off a conveyor and transports the workpieces into and out of the processing area. The automatic and multifunctional loading apparatus is arranged, together with a workpiece support, inside the security partition, wherein the workpiece support is arranged within the working area of the loading robots. A loading robot provides workpieces and carries out a setting-up procedure.
Abstract: A method of repairing a compressor outlet housing includes the steps of obtaining a damaged compressor outlet housing having a radially outer volute, a radially inwardly extending finger extending to an axially extending ledge, a radially inwardly extending web extending radially inwardly from the ledge, and a radially inner bearing support defining a bore. The method identifies a damaged section within at least one of the bearing support, the web, and the ledge, and removes at least the bearing support and the web to leave a remaining part. The method then inserts an insert having at least a replacement bearing support and a replacement web into the remaining part after the removal step. The method then welds the insert to the remaining part to provide a repaired compressor housing. A method of replacing a compressor outlet housing and a replacement compressor outlet housing are also disclosed.

Abstract: An adjustable spacer device for use in the space between a toilet and a wall and a method installing same is disclosed. Abstract: A preform for fabricating a wheel rim and a method of making a preform is provided. The preform includes a main section and at least one secondary section, each section being formed from composite materials, such as triaxially braided composite material that includes fibers oriented in at least three directions. The main section forms at least part of a lateral section of the preform and the secondary section forms at least part of a radial portion of the preform, the radial portion of the preform being generally perpendicular to the lateral section of the preform. The preform is fabricated from a plurality of composite layers, at least some being custom composite layers having a plurality of axial fibers interwoven intermittently with substantially consistent first and second sets of biased fibers. In some embodiments, the preform is initially fabricated in an intermediate configuration prior to being moved to a final configuration.
