  • Patent number: 9795024
Abstract: A nozzle for a plasma arc torch is provided with a distal region sidewall formed by rotation of a variably curved element about a nozzle axis. The distal region sidewall has an inclination to the nozzle axis that increases at an increasing rate as it approached a nozzle terminal plane that terminates an orifice of the nozzle. The distal region sidewall is substantially tangent to the nozzle terminal plane where it intersect the same. The desired curvature can be formed by rotation of a portion of an ellipse or parabola. The curvature of the distal region sidewall appears to draw a portion of the shield gas along the nozzle to provide improved cooling and greater stability to the plasma arc, which can improve the quality of cuts made by the arc and can increase nozzle life.

  • Patent number: 9752784
Abstract: A power control circuit includes first and second electrical power terminals connected across a source of electrical power. A heating element is connected to the first terminal. A heating element controller is connected in series with the heating element, between the heating element and the second terminal. The controller is configured to control a temperature level of the element, and includes a control input configured to receive a range of temperature settings, and an OFF command for the element. The controller includes an ON/OFF switch to disconnect the element from the second terminal, and a temperature level control switch to intermittently connect/disconnect the element to the second terminal. A jumper wire series-connects the ON/OFF switch to the temperature level control switch. The ON/OFF switch, the jumper wire, the temperature level control switch, and the element are electrically connected in series.

  • Patent number: 9731381
Abstract: A laser cutting head powered by a laser emission apparatus including optical transmission devices and associated with a cutting machine tool, includes a collimation device to collimate a laser beam coming from the laser emission apparatus, a focusing device to focus a collimated laser beam leaving the collimation devices, and a casing to house the focusing unit. The focusing unit includes one focusing lens and support devices to house and hold the focusing lens and move it along an adjustment direction within the casing in order to vary a focal point of the laser beam leaving the focusing lens. The laser cutting head includes a cooling unit secured to the casing and heat conducting devices used to connect the support devices with the cooling unit in order to extract the heat generated by the laser beam crossing the focusing lens by thermal conduction from the support devices and the focusing lens.

  • Patent number: 9629694
Abstract: A precision configuration system includes a plier device having clasp members, a heat transfer clamp member, a bending force transducer, and a temperature controller. One clasp member has a single jaw tooth that contacts and heats a component, for example, a wire positioned by a component holder and accommodated within a receptacle defined between double jaw teeth of the other clasp member. The heat transfer clamp member includes a heating coil that generates and transfers heat to the single jaw tooth. The bending force transducer controls magnitude and direction of bending forces applied by the plier device to precision bend and reshape the component at one or more bending points on the component based on force commands received from a component configuration computer system. The temperature controller controls the generation and transfer of heat to the single jaw tooth to facilitate temperature controlled, precision bending and reshaping of the component.

  • Patent number: 9603484
Abstract: A rotisserie device useful in a partially opened, hinged, covered grill includes a support ring that is shaped and configured to inhibit airflow into and out of the grill when the cover is partially opened. The support ring includes one or more cover supporting portions or chocks that hold the cover and base apart when the cover is partially opened, and one or more apertures through the ring that can receive a rotatable spindle which serves as or which drives a removable, rotatable rotisserie spit.

  • Patent number: 9597744
Abstract: A method of brazing including melting a surface region (26) of a substrate (12, 14, 22) and contacting a braze material (10) with the melted surface region, the braze material including a plurality of braze fillers (16) and a plurality of carbon structures (18). The method further includes subjecting the braze material to an amount of energy effective to melt the braze fillers but not the carbon structures, and cooling the braze material to form a brazement (28, 32) including the carbon structures within at least a portion of the substrate. The brazement includes a gradient (30) of the carbon structures, wherein a concentration of the carbon structures increases in a direction away from an interior of the substrate.

  • Patent number: 9561557
Abstract: Systems and methods for producing dowel baskets from dowel side frames and transverse dowel rods. The dowel side frames are introduced at a top location of the production system, where there is initially introduced a first dowel rod and subsequently, with successive stepwise advancements, the remaining dowel rods are introduced. The dowel side frames with the dowel rods advance on guides that may rotate the dowel side frames relative to the axes of the longitudinal wires so as to impart a desired inclination angle ? relative to the rods. In following, with continuous stepwise advancements, the dowel rods are alternately welded, each to one of the opposed dowel side frames. Transverse wires are welded on the longitudinal wires to impart rigidity to the dowel basket. Subsequently, mass-produced dowel baskets may be stacked in groups.
