  • Patent number: 11470524
Abstract: According to one configuration, while the user equipment is wirelessly connected to a first wireless base station over a first wireless communication link, a communication management resource in the user equipment receives input (such as a request) to tune-away the user equipment to a second wireless base station providing corresponding wireless services. To facilitate the temporary tune-away to the second wireless network, the communication management resource of the user equipment generates timing information associated with the switchover. In furtherance of the switchover (temporary tune-away) to the second wireless base station, the communication management resource of the user equipment transmits the timing information in a wireless communication over the first wireless communication link to the first wireless base station.

  • Patent number: 11445419
Abstract: A Fifth Generation (5G) access node exchanges user data with User Equipment (UE) and exchanges the user data with a 5G User Plane Function (UPF). A 5G Core (5GC) identifies a handover to a Long Term Evolution (LTE) access node. In response, the 5GC selects an LTE Gateway Identifier (GW ID) for an LTE gateway that is physically co-located with the 5G UPF. The 5GC transfers handover signaling indicating the LTE GW ID and the LTE access node ID to a Mobility Management Entity (MME). The MME transfers signaling to the LTE access node and the LTE gateway. The LTE access node wirelessly exchanges user data with the UE and exchanges the user data with the LTE GW in response to the signaling. The LTE gateway exchanges the user data with the LTE access node.

  • Patent number: 11432233
Abstract: A wireless device determines whether a data session is performance sensitive, and in response to the data session being performance sensitive, selects a data transport node (DTN) and performs the data session using the selected DTN. Whether a data session is performance sensitive may be determined using information on a process associated with the data session, by monitoring the data session, or both. The DTN may be selected from a list of available DTNs according to which DTN will probably provide the highest performance for the data session, or according to which DTN or DTNs will probably provide adequate performance. Micro speed tests, historical performance information, or other criteria may be used to predict the performance of the available DTNs. When multiple DTNs satisfy the selection criteria, a “good neighbor” policy may be used to select the DTN.

  • Patent number: 11425638
Abstract: A user equipment (e.g., mobile device) can determine whether a first mobile code stored on the user equipment matches a second mobile code received from a mobile network to which the user equipment is connected. In response to a determination indicating that the first mobile code and the second mobile code match, the user equipment can activate a Wi-Fi calling module on the user equipment to connect to an evolved packet data gateway device in the mobile network that is used for routing voice over internet protocol packets. In response to a dialed number being determined not to relate to an emergency call, the user equipment can initiate the call via a Wi-Fi calling module, and transmit a voice over internet protocol packet related to the call via a cellular data connection to the evolved packet data gateway device.

  • Patent number: 11412080
Abstract: A phone device monitors an accelerometer while traveling in a vehicle to detect unusually large excursions or sudden changes in acceleration magnitude. When such an excursion is detected, the phone device then compares the excursion with the output of other components in the vehicle that can confirm or dispel a finding that the vehicle has experienced a collision. Once a likely collision has been detected, the phone device goes into an automated assistance mode where the use can be voice prompted as to their condition. If no response is received, the phone device can automatically call emergency services for assistance, providing the present location of the phone device. In less severe incidents, the phone device can automatically offer immediate access to other services, include a towing service, an attorney, an automobile service, among others. The service providers are based on a geo-fenced region in which the phone device is located.

  • Patent number: 11405839
Abstract: Various embodiments include methods and user equipment (UE) for mobile-terminated call handling when a latency-sensitive service (LSS) is active on the UE. Embodiments may include determining a radio access technology (RAT) used for a latency-sensitive service (LSS) currently active on the UE in response to receiving an MT call invitation and determining whether a latency-prone service command is received that includes service commands configured to change the determined RAT used for the LSS to another RAT likely to compromise the LSS. In response to determining that a latency-prone service command is received the MT call invitation may be rejected, but in response to determining that a latency-prone service command is not received, MT call alerting may be allowed.

  • Patent number: 11382171
Abstract: A geo-coordinate management framework administers an assignment of geo-coordinates of hardware devices with a known location located within a geo-spatial operating environment of an organizational messaging and risk management software system to enable cooperation between disparate systems and such hardware devices with a known location for responses to events occurring within such a geo-spatial operating environment. The geo-coordinate management framework retrieves sets of geo-coordinates representing locations of hardware devices with a known location in response to the event, wherein the set of geo-coordinates are either embedded within an application programming interface call issued following an event or stored in a look-up table that is cross-referenced in response to the application programming interface call following an event. Such a framework triggers actions based on the geo-coordinates to operate the associated hardware devices in response to the event.

  • Patent number: 11375382
Abstract: Network planning based on collected crowd-sourced access point quality and selection data can optimize access point frequency and/or bandwidth selection. A cloud-based application can be utilized in conjunction with a mobile device to build a database of access point quality and thresholds suitable for real-time and other jitter-sensitive services. The mobile device jitter measurements and selection thresholds can be collected at a cloud platform, which creates an access point performance and selection threshold profile from which the network can facilitate access point frequency and/or bandwidth selections.

  • Patent number: 11297661
Abstract: A self-assembling network is configured to automatically and dynamically connect devices used in operations carried out on or near roads bearing vehicle and pedestrian traffic. An automatic, ad hoc network connecting existing and new devices can be used to enhance safety by gathering and exchanging safety critical information. In some cases, existing equipment can be augmented with a network controller and radio frequency communications to permit the devices to join a wireless local network and exchange information over the network. New devices, including wearable devices, can be configured to act as nodes on the wireless local network. Establishing the relative position of vehicles, sensors, wearables, and other nodes on the disclosed ad hoc wireless network allows the coordination of functions based on position.

  • Patent number: 11290570
Abstract: A primary user device may receive a termination command from an over-the-air (OTA) platform of a wireless carrier network to terminate a short-range wireless communication link with a companion user device. The primary user device may terminate a short-range wireless communication with the companion user device in response to the termination command to trigger the companion user device to establish a cellular communication link with the wireless carrier network. The primary user device may initiate a countdown of a predetermined time period for the companion user device to receive an OTA update from the OTA platform via the cellular communication link. When the countdown indicates that the predetermined time period has elapsed, the primary user device may reestablish the short-range wireless communication link with the companion user device to trigger the companion user device to terminate the cellular communication link.
