  • Patent number: 4924768
Abstract: A multi-purpose baking and roasting rack which includes a drip pan and a plurality of upwardly directed generally vertically oriented skewer rods positioned above the interior surface of the drip pan each adapted to support and pierce a food item to be baked or roasted. The skewer rods each form part of a skewer assembly which are mounted on the drip pan, with associated or cooperating skewer assemblies being arranged and substantially orthogonal planes and include indentations therein at the points where the skewer assemblies cross to stabilize the skewer rods in relation to each other, thereby providing a generally rigid construction when assembled for use which facilitates the reliable and safe use of the rack.

  • Patent number: 4847941
Abstract: A windshield wiper device includes an oscillating wiper blade supported on a wiper arm which oscillates together with the wiper blade on the windshield to be wiped and is connected with a drive which imparts to the wiper arm a longitudinal displacement during the oscillating motion. The drive includes a gear, a stationary toothed segment meshed with the gear, and a crank mechanism having a crank and a driving rod connected to the crank. An intermediate drive is provided between a reciprocating element connected to the wiper arm and the driving rod of the drive to enlarge a path of the translatory movement of the driving rod.

  • Patent number: 4832500
Abstract: Apparatus for mixing or otherwise agitating fluid material comprises an elongated vessel (1) to contain the material, means (6, 7, 9, 10) to impose oscillatory motion upon the material in a lengthwise direction, and a plurality of stationary obstacles (19, 35) mounted on the inner wall (2) of the vessel and arranged in sequence lengthwise. The obstacles present sharp ridge-form tips (20, 37) each ridge pointing in a direction (30) at right angles to that of the oscillating motion. Each adjacent pair of obstacles and the length of vessel wall between them define a trough-shaped space (26) in which the oscillating motion repeatedly forms vortices and then ejects those vortices vigorously into the remainder of the fluid outside the trough, so promoting the agitation of that fluid. The invention applies particularly to cylindrical vessels in which the obstacles are ring-shaped (19) or are constituted by the successive turns of a helix (35).

  • Patent number: 4813095
Abstract: A compound windshield wiper having a blade assembly consisting of a main wiper blade and an adjacent and secondary reciprocating blade in slideable registry therewith. The secondary blade, slideable attached to the main blade by an interlocking bearing-in-slot assembly, is driven towards an extended position during the wiper's arcuate sweep along the windshield, thus allowing the secondary blade, called a traveler blade, to clean portions of the windshield that are normally uncleaned by the traditional windshield wiper blade system. The means for extending the secondary blade comprises a simple cable system that both extends and retracts the secondary blade. The cable may be driven by either a motor means that is synchronized with the wiper sweep, similar to or identical with modern vehicle wiper system motors or, by anchoring the terminus of the cable (the proximal end) to some point of the window frame or vehicle body.

  • Patent number: 4811450
Abstract: A vacuum cleaner main cleaning chassis has a pair of suction air channels leading from a principal suction area thereof. Suction force is provided in common in the air channels with a single suction motor. One of the suction air channels is adapted to receive an auxiliary cleaning hose which diverts the suction force in such air channel into the auxiliary hose. During such auxiliary cleaning, increased suction force may be created in the auxiliary hose by closing off air flow in the other suction air channel, which relieves part of the load on the common suction motor. Such relief results in increased rotational speed of the motor, which in turn correspondingly increases the suction air flow in the air channel associated with the auxiliary hose.

  • Patent number: 4811660
Abstract: A mechanical lock-in device for a front loader compaction assembly to prevent relative movement of the refuse container with respect to the stationary compactor head and support. The lock-in device includes a lock-in bracket fixed to the compactor head support, and a locking member movably mounted on the refuse container adjacent one of the horizontally extending side pockets which are engaged by lifting forks of a collection vehicle for dumping. The lower portion of the locking member engages the lock-in bracket to prevent relative movement of the refuse container while in use. When it is desired to dump the container, when the lifting fork of the collection vehicle is inserted into a container side pocket, it engages a portion of the locking member which extends transversely of the pocket, thereby effecting an upward movement of the locking member out of engagement with the lock-in bracket to permit the container to be moved from its position beneath the stationary head.

  • Patent number: 4802257
Abstract: This invention describes a wiper blade with a substantially U-shaped supporting yoke between the side walls of which is fixed a component part which, coaxially to bores in the side walls of the supporting yoke, has a bearing bore for a pivot pin connecting the wiper blade and wiper arm. The diameter of the bore in the side walls is larger than the diameter of the pivot pin, so that a metallic contact between pivot pin and side walls of the supporting yoke is prevented. In order to secure the position of the bearing axially a metallic locking spring is additionally fixed in this component part which cooperates with a groove in the pivot pin.

  • Patent number: 4802408
Abstract: The apparatus serves to squeeze out air bubbles entrained between layers of rolled plastic films by pneumatically compacting so as to decrease the cloudiness in the appearance of a transparent plastic film roll. The apparatus comprises a base shaft, a tiltable trough to receive and discharge film rolls, and a movable drum which envelopes the film rolls on the trough as engaged with the base shaft with air-tightness. The space containing the film rolls received on the trough are enclosed air-tightly by the drum and base shaft engaged together and pressurized by introducing compressed air to squeeze out air bubbles out of the film rolls and then the drum is disengaged from the base shaft followed by tilting of the trough to discharge the film rolls.

  • Patent number: 4800607
Abstract: An apparatus for cleaning windowpanes of a building comprises a unit suspended from the roof of the building and being capable of ascending and descending along the building. An opening portion is formed in the front portion of the unit and a cleaning head is provided in this opening portion. The cleaning head can be adjusted in its position and can be accurately positioned against a windowpane to be cleaned by reducing a relative velocity of a scraper attached to the cleaning head to zero by ascending the cleaning head while the unit is descending. The scraper and a rotary disc for sprinkling water are secured to a movable member provided in the cleaning head. The scraper can not only approach and withdraw from the windowpane but also incline with respect to the windowpane. An air curtain is formed below the scraper so as to guide soiled water left after wiping of the windowpane by the scraper into a soiled water collection portion.

  • Patent number: 4789013
Abstract: A container filling machine has a rotor which is adjustable in height and supports components for filling containers. A carrier support is mounted to support devices which are adjustable vertically on stationary columns. Interlock elements which are arranged radially on the rotor are operable to unlatch the support devices at a specific rotational position of the rotor and to support the support devices and carrier. The lever-shaped latch element of each support device projects into a recess for the interlock element in such a way that with a partial penetration of the interlock element into the support device the support device is still latched to the column but supported and further penetration of said interlock element results in the support device being unlatched so that when the height of the rotor is altered, the support devices and carrier are altered in height correspondingly.
