  • Patent number: 7171215
Abstract: This invention concerns a telecommunication system SYST including: a mobile transmitter/receiver ERM, a number of access points PA1i and PA2j, each capable of communicating with the mobile transmitter/receiver ERM situated in a coverage area ZA1i or ZA2j of the access point considered, and a communication network NW1 authorizing communications between said access points. The system according to the invention includes at least one mobility manager GM capable of determining, based on operating conditions of the access points, with which access point the mobile transmitter/receiver ERM should establish a communication. In the system according to the invention, a change in access point may not be carried out at the sole initiative of a mobile transmitter/receiver ERM, but is, on the contrary, carried out after analysis of an environment specific to said mobile transmitter/receiver ERM by the mobility manager GM.

  • Patent number: 7142873
Abstract: In one embodiment, the present invention is a method and system for calibrating a wireless network including a Mobile Switching Center (MSC), and a Position Determination Device (PDD). The wireless network is capable of determining the position of a handset. The method includes receiving a trigger from the MSC; sending a position request message to the PDD in response to the received trigger; receiving a position request response message from the PDD; continuously sending subsequent position request messages to the PDD in response to the same received trigger, until a termination command is received; terminating the sending subsequent position request messages, when the termination command is received; and generating output data including network calibration parameters.

  • Patent number: 7139589
Abstract: An appearance of other mobile wireless station within a communication area of a second wireless communication system of a main mobile wireless station when the main mobile wireless station is in the communication area of a wireless base station of the first wireless communication system, is automatically detected. Communications with other mobile wireless station are autonomously started by a second wireless communication system and communications with the wireless base station are performed by the first wireless communication system. Communication content from the wireless base station of the first wireless communication system and communication content from the other mobile wireless station of the second wireless communication system are mutually relayed. The relay control is terminated when the other mobile wireless station moves outside the communication area of the second wireless communication system of the main mobile wireless station.

  • Patent number: 7116997
Abstract: In a mobile communications network, a delivery acknowledgement receipt can be sent to indicate a SMS message is delivered. A system can be based on currently-existing protocols, such as described in the IS-136 standard. Existing network signals that acknowledge receipt of a message can be captured and utilized to notify the originator when the SMS message is delivered. A variety of other scenarios (e.g., unsuccessful delivery) can also be supported.

  • Patent number: 7113807
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for simplifying a signal processing process of a base station that receives signals through four branches using two two-branch polarized antennas for each sector. The base station receives signals through first and second branches of the first polarized antenna and third and fourth branches of the second polarized antenna, time-delays the signals received at the second and fourth branches so as to distinguish an offset thereof from an offset of the signals received at the first and third branches, adds the signal received at the first branch and the signal received at the second branch and time-delayed, and adds the signal received at the third branch and the signal received at the fourth branch and time delayed. A modem processor separates an offset distinguishable signal from the added signals.

  • Patent number: 7062226
Abstract: A method for transmitting a signal from a base station transceiver system (BTS) to a base station controller (BSC) when there is no data transmitted from a mobile station while in discontinuous transmission (DTX) mode, in a mobile communication system. Upon detection of the discontinuous transmission mode, it is determined what type of frame was last transmitted from the mobile station, and the present power control information is set according to the type of frame. Thereafter, the base station transceiver system transmits a reverse message including the present power control information to the base station controller over a dedicated control channel. If there is data being transmitted between the mobile station and the base station transceiver system at the time where the discontinuous transmission mode is detected, the previous power control information is set to the present power control information.
