  • Patent number: 5497964
Abstract: A deployable stand has two legs pivoted to a mounting block attached to the exterior of a golf bag. The legs pivot on axes tangential to the bag circumference between a retracted mutually parallel condition and a mutually divergent deployed condition. Each leg has an extension rising above the pivot point. A hand grip is supported between the upper ends of the extensions and contains a pair of coil springs which urge the extensions apart, consequently biasing the legs towards the retracted condition. The legs are easily deployed for setting down the bag simply be squeezing the grip against the rim of the bag with one hand. The stand can be supported to the bag by a strap or can be a permanent part of the bag.

  • Patent number: 5494249
Abstract: A container two-element holder assembly, comprising a container holder plate and a hinge link, arranged for substantially flush retracted storage in a vehicle panel recess wherein each element has an internal side lying in a common plane juxtaposed the recess backwall. The hinge link is supported to the backwall about a first pivot axis whereby the holder assembly is adapted for conjoint ninety degree swinging movement about the first pivot axis through a side opening in the recess to an intermediate mode. The holder plate is pivotally connected to the hinge link for rotational movement about a second pivot axis, orthogonal to the first axis, through an angle of ninety degrees from its intermediate mode to a use mode. In the use mode the holder plate internal side, formed with a cavity, faces upwardly for receiving and supporting a beverage container in the cavity.

  • Patent number: 5494247
Abstract: A license plate holding apparatus for securing a license plate on an automobile. The apparatus comprises a holder which is attached to the bumper. The holder has openings at each end, (left and right) where a screw may be secured. Tabs slide along a track in connection with each aperture. The tabs have a smaller opening than the aperture which enable the screw to be secured to the tab. The tabs are spring biased toward the openings so that each tab is in the left and right openings when in the normal position. The tabs are connected by a wire to a central pull ring located in the middle of the holder. The pull ring may be pulled out in order to pull the tabs along the track and away from the openings. This allows the screw to be detached from the openings in order to remove the license plate.

  • Patent number: 5492296
Abstract: The invention is directed to an adjustable stand for an optical viewing apparatus such as a surgical microscope pivotable about a pivot axis. The adjustable stand and the optical viewing apparatus conjointly define a center of gravity which can shift to produce an unwanted unbalancing torque when accessories are added to the microscope and/or when there is angular movement about the axis. The adjustable stand includes a mounting bracket for attaching the stand at a desired location; a pivot shaft defining the pivot axis; a carrier holding the pivot shaft and an elastically deformable energy storage device mounted on the shaft for releasing stored torque energy in response to the shift to balance the unwanted unbalancing torque. An adjusting device is provided for loading the storage means with a predetermined torque.

  • Patent number: 5489081
Abstract: A bracket for shock mounting of a vibrating or rotating device, such as a centrifuge, to a support surface. The bracket is formed from a plate of stiff material, such as steel, having an expandible deformable section along a lengthwise axis of the plate and a rotationally deformable leg section formed by undulations in the plate from one end to the other. At narrower plate regions, formed by the undulations, plate rotation is possible until the plate exceeds its elastic limit in the rotational direction and permanent deformation occurs. Such permanent deformation absorbs energy from accidents within the device in which energy would otherwise be transferred to a support surface and the surrounding environment.

  • Patent number: 5485928
Abstract: A merchandise display rack has compartments for displaying products. Each such compartment has a rear panel, a front panel and a follower with a first panel portion mounted for movement toward the front panel when a product is removed from the compartment. The first panel portion and the front panel substantially abut one another when the compartment is emptied of products and the first panel portion and the rear panel substantially abut one another when the compartment is filled with products. The follower is guided along the bottom panel by a guide member which extends from the follower into a slot in the bottom panel. Such guide member has a mechanism for modifying its width to compensate for slot/guide member wear. Vertically adjacent compartments are staggered so that substantially the entirety of at least the lower compartment is readily visible.
