    Abstract: A method for projecting image contents onto a user's retina using an optical system. A light beam is first projected onto a diverting unit of the optical system using a projector unit of the optical system. The light beam is subsequently diverted to the position of the user's eye. An ascertained deviation of an actual state of the projected light beam diverted by the diverting unit from a desired state is stored using memory unit. Second image data are generated using an image-processing device based on the stored and ascertained deviation of the actual state of the projected light beam from the desired state. The second image data are received using the projector unit. The received second image data are projected at successive second time intervals using the projector unit. At least two of the second time intervals differ from one another in terms of time.

A deep convolutional generative adversarial network is used for mapping information in a latent space into texture models. An interactive evolutionary computation algorithm for searching a texture through an evolving latent space driven by human preference is also described. Advantages of a generative model and an evolutionary computation are combined to realize a controllable and bounded texture tuning process under the guidance of human preferences. Additionally, a fully haptic user interface is described, which can be used to evaluate the systems and methods in terms of their efficiency and accuracy of searching and generating new virtual textures that are closely representative of given real textures.

Acoustic touch sensing can utilize transducers (e.g., piezoelectric) to simultaneously transmit ultrasonic waves along a surface and through a thickness of a deformable material. The location of the object and the applied force can be determined based on the amount of time elapsing between the transmission of the waves and receipt of the reflected waves. In some examples, an acoustic touch sensing system can be insensitive to water contact on the device surface, and thus acoustic touch sensing can be used for touch sensing in devices that may become wet or fully submerged in water.
