  • Patent number: 8985820
Abstract: A lighted interior accessory assembly for a vehicle includes an interior accessory such as an armrest or console and a plurality of fasteners mounting the interior accessory on the interior panel. A mounting plate has a light pipe mounted thereon and emitting light along the length of the light pipe. The mounting plate is sandwiched between the armrest and the interior panel so that the mounting plate creates a gap between the armrest and the interior panel through which the light pipe emits light into the vehicle interior. Mounting the armrest directly to the door trim without inter-positioning the mounting plate between the armrest and the door trim eliminates the gap and eliminates the light pipe. Accordingly, a vehicle manufacturer can readily include a lighting feature in a luxury version of the vehicle and omit the lighting feature from a standard version of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 8979316
Abstract: A LED array spot illuminator for providing light along an optical axis comprises a substrate and at least one array of multiple LED chips without individual packaging supported by the substrate, wherein the LED chips emit light within the same or different wavelength ranges and are distributed laterally with respect to the axis over a light-emitting area. The LED chips have light emitting surfaces for emitting light in directions transverse to the area. An optical device collects and directs light emitted by the LED chips of the at least one array along the axis. An aperture passes the light emitted by the LED chips of the at least one array along the axis, wherein light collected by the optical device and passed by the aperture forms a beam of light illuminating a spot. Electric current is supplied to the multiple LED chips, causing them to emit light. Light emitted by the multiple LED chips that passed through the optical device and the aperture form a beam of light illuminating a spot.

  • Patent number: 8899815
Abstract: A uniform reflective light-guide for accompanying an edge light source to form a backlight module for an LCD display includes a light-guiding layer and a reflective layer. The light-guiding layer further defines a light-introducing surface and a light-exiting surface. The light-introducing surface is to allow lights emitted from the edge light source to enter the light-guiding layer. The light-exiting surface perpendicular to the light-introducing surface is to allow at least a portion of the lights to leave the light-guiding layer. The reflective layer is to reflect the incident lights back to the light-guiding layer. The reflective layer and the light-guiding layer are manufactured integrally into a unique piece by a co-extrusion process so as to avoid possible existence of an air spacing in between. A reflective surface is defined to interface the reflective layer and the light-guiding layer, and a three-dimensional micro-structure is constructed on the reflective surface.
