  • Patent number: 10027398
Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a repeater device having a first coupler to extract downstream channel signals from first guided electromagnetic waves bound to a transmission medium of a guided wave communication system. An amplifier amplifies the downstream channel signals to generate amplified downstream channel signals. A channel selection filter selects one or more of the amplified downstream channel signals to wirelessly transmit to the at least one client device via an antenna. A second coupler guides the amplified downstream channel signals to the transmission medium of the guided wave communication system to propagate as second guided electromagnetic waves. Other embodiments are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10003473
Abstract: In one embodiment, a time period is identified in which probe packets are to be sent along a path in a network based on predicted user traffic along the path. The probe packets are then sent during the identified time period along the path. Conditions of the network path are monitored during the time period. The rate at which the packets are sent during the time period is dynamically adjusted based on the monitored conditions. Results of the monitored conditions are collected, to determine an available bandwidth limit along the path.

  • Patent number: 9992348
Abstract: A method for establishing a call over a packet network may include receiving a call request on a packet network from an originating call device. Status one or more segments of a transmission path may be determined. If the status of the segments are within a first range, the call between the originating and terminating call device over the determined transmission path at a first data rate may be established. Otherwise, if the status of one or more segments is within a second range, a determination as to whether the originating trunk and terminating segment can operate at a second data rate may be made, and, if so, the call may be established over the transmission path between the originating call device and terminating call device at the second data rate.

  • Patent number: 9985749
Abstract: A transmission system can improve transmission efficiency of a wireless link using multi-TID aggregate frames. The system can receive a block acknowledgement from a destination device, in response to sending a first multi-TID aggregate frame to the destination device via a wireless link. The system can compute a packet error rate for a respective TID based at least on the block acknowledgement. If the system determines that the packet error rate for the respective TID is greater than a predetermined threshold, the system can reserve a number of packet slots in a second aggregate frame for duplicate packets of the respective TID. The system may then generate the second multi-TID aggregate frame that includes duplicate packets for the respective TID in the number of reserved packet slots, and can send the second multi-TID aggregate frame to the destination device via the wireless link.

  • Patent number: 9973319
Abstract: A method of sub-channel independent network allocation vector (NAV) management by a wireless station (STA) in a wideband wireless communications system is proposed. In the wideband system having multiple sub-bands, each NAV for a corresponding sub-band is independently managed. The protection duration for each NAV is independent for each sub-band and the threshold or update rule for NAV modification is also independent for each sub-band. The threshold or update rule for NAV modification may also be different when the NAV is generated or propagated by an OBSS STA. Furthermore, early termination of NAV is allowed if the NAV is set by an OBSS STA only.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide systems, methods, and apparatuses for implementing the multiplexing of different orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) waveforms using a transmitter and receiver configured to process different types of signals without a need for distinct hardware structures. In one example, aspects of the present disclosure may include a transmitter configured to transmit both a first type of discrete fourier transform (DFT)-spread OFDM waveform and a second type of DFT-spread OFDM waveform that may be multiplexed over the wireless channel. In some aspects, the transmitter may modify the numerology of the zero-tail DFT-spread OFDM waveform to match the numerology of other OFDM waveforms (e.g., OFDM waveform with zero-guard or a single carrier DFT-spread OFDM with zero-guard).
