  • Patent number: 5489244
Abstract: A centrifugal planetary friction transmission comprising an input shaft, an output shaft, at least one planetary friction pulley set which is formed by three coaxially linked cylindrical external friction pulleys, and three internal pulleys. The friction forces acting on the planetary friction pulley set are mostly cancelled out by each other. According to the invention, the external friction pulleys only contact with the internal friction pulleys, and the normal pressure for producing the friction force for transmitting the torque is created by the centrifugal force of the external friction pulley set only and the transmission is a positive characteristic planetary transmission.

  • Patent number: 5470283
Abstract: A speed reduction device employing a housing with rotatably mounted input and output shafts. The input shaft includes an eccentric shaft upon which is rotatably mounted a gear wheel. The gear wheel meshes with a ring gear fixed to the housing. The gear wheel has close but not equal to the same number of teeth as the ring gear. A dynamic coupling is provided between the gear wheel and the output shaft. The dynamic coupling includes circular cavities on opposed surfaces on the gear wheel and output shaft, respectively, with balls located between surfaces in the cavities. One set of cavities is enlarged to accommodate the eccentric motion of the gear wheel.

  • Patent number: 5454762
Abstract: Described is a hydraulic circuit construction of a vehicular left/right drive force adjusting apparatus suitable for use in adjusting drive force to left and right wheels in an automotive vehicle or the like. The vehicular left/right drive force adjusting apparatus is provided with a drive force transmission control mechanism which performs adjustment of drive force. The drive force transmitting apparatus is equipped with a left-wheel-controlling, hydraulically-driven clutch mechanism for transferring drive force to a left-wheel axle or from the left-wheel axle, a right-wheel-controlling, hydraulically-driven clutch mechanism for transferring drive force to a right-wheel axle or from the right-wheel axle, and a hydraulic circuit for driving these clutch mechanisms.

  • Patent number: 5437585
Abstract: A roller drive assembly comprises a frame on which is mounted a rotatable drive roller which has a rotatable outer shell and which can pivot about an axis eccentric to the axis of rotation of the outer shell between a retracted position and a drive position. A drive motor mounted on the frame outside the drive roller is provided to power the drive roller. Located in the drive roller is a planetary gear system which comprises a sun gear, a ring gear, and a planet carrier bearing planet gears, the ring gear being rotational about the planet carrier and defining at least a part of said outer shell. The planet carrier also defines axle stubs offset from the axis of rotation of the outer shell which are located in bearings mounted in the frame to enable the drive roller to pivot with respect to the frame. A gear train is operationally connected to the drive motor to drive the sun gear and a pinion is located at one end of an output shaft of the gear train.

  • Patent number: 5429561
Abstract: A shift control system for obtaining a smooth shift feeling in a shifting necessitating redeployment of friction elements. The shift control system is comprised of a sensor which detects a state that disengagement pressure of a friction element to be disengaged almost becomes zero during shifting. In reply to the detection of the sensor, a controller adjusts engagement pressure of the other friction element to be engaged at a predetermined value determined according to input torque and gear ratio.

  • Patent number: 5423406
Abstract: An epicyclic train operates as a speed reducer between an input and an output when a clutch is released, and as a direct drive connection in the contrary case. The selective clamping is obtained by centrifugal weights, counter to biasing springs and to an helical teeth reaction force, which is proportional to the torque transmitted during speed-reducing operation. The reaction force promotes speed-reducing operation when the torque to be transmitted is high. Means are provided for applying a force pulse to the weights when the driver depresses the accelerator pedal. Since, upon a ratio change, the reaction force and the friction forces in the clutch vary so as to stabilize the newly created transmission ratio, a force pulse is enough for initiating a ratio change which will then be stabilized by a spontaneous variation of the reaction force and the friction forces.
