  • Patent number: 10949888
Abstract: Technology is disclosed for facilitating generation and processing of a customized promotion based on a set of factors. In some embodiments, the disclosed technology enables a particular merchant to incentivize customer business (e.g., increase customer traffic to a physical merchant location) by offering a customized promotion for placement in a receipt of a transaction with another merchant. The customized promotion, which decreases incrementally in value over time, is generated specifically for a product and/or service offered by the particular merchant. The product and/or service associated with the promotion correlates to a set of factors, including, among others, the customer's spending trend, thereby increasing the likelihood that the customer would redeem the promotion with the particular merchant in a second transaction.

  • Patent number: 10943258
Abstract: Header bidding systems and methods increase a number of advertisers that can place bids for an advertising impression while maintaining low latency in loading of the webpage, while still permitting control for reporting and review of inappropriate advertising content. Even though advertising content may be received from a plurality of disparate advertising sources, information identifying the source of each advertisement is maintained such that when an advertisement is reported as inappropriate, information regarding the advertisement and the source of the advertisement is gathered and delivered to a review system, such that when advertisements are in fact deemed inappropriate, the correct advertiser can be notified and future display of the inappropriate advertisement blocked.

  • Patent number: 10929893
Abstract: Website publishers maximize revenue by refreshing advertisements displayed on webpages from time to time, while ensuring that only advertisements that are sufficiently visible to the consumer are refreshed. Advertisers are guaranteed that their advertisements are sufficiently visible, and are more willing to bid for placement of refreshed advertisements. A webpage is provided with an advertisement. Time that has passed since the webpage was provided is measured, but before the time that has passed since the webpage was provided has equaled or exceeded a time period at which to refresh the advertisement, it is detected that the advertisement is either not visible or is insufficiently visible on a browser providing the webpage. Accordingly, measurement of the time that has passed since the webpage was provided is suspended, such that the advertisement is not refreshed while the advertisement is either not visible or is insufficiently visible.

  • Patent number: 10902456
Abstract: Methods described herein include prefetching information for a future visitor to a webpage or other resource. Prefetching the information can allow a provider to customize the webpage or resource with reduced latency. The methods can include notifying an experience provider associated with an advertisement prior to the user requesting the webpage or other resource. The notification can provide identification information corresponding to the client device or user. The notification also indicates that the client device or au user is about to be directed to the webpage or other resource. The notification can allow for retrieval of profile information associated with the identification information prior to the direction of the client device to the webpage or other resource.

  • Patent number: 10885546
Abstract: A method is disclosed for tracking advertisement effectiveness. First information associated with desired advertising information is broadcast from at least one of a plurality of fixed information nodes. A mobile unit receives the broadcast information and outputs the desired advertising information. An advertisement counter is started at the time of receipt of the broadcast information and presence information is broadcast from at least one of a plurality of fixed monitoring nodes over a restricted broadcast range, which at least one fixed monitoring node is disposed in a predetermined fixed physical proximity with a vendor location. The broadcast presence information is received at the mobile unit and a presence counter is started in response to receipt of the presence information. At the mobile unit loss of receipt of the broadcast presence information, the presence counter is stopped.

  • Patent number: 10740781
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a system, method, and computer program for providing users with notifications of a cashback rewards from a shopping portal using screen and email analysis. A shopping portal system analyzes the content and characteristics of user emails, as well as screens viewed by the user through a client application (e.g., webpages and mobile application screens), to identify probable order-confirmation emails and screens. In response to identifying an order-confirmation email or an order-confirmation screen, the system determines whether a cashback reward should be credited to the user for the order corresponding to the order-confirmation email/screen. In response to an order-confirmation email or screen satisfying the criteria for a cashback reward, the system credits a user account with the cashback reward and notifies the user of the reward.

  • Patent number: 10636053
Abstract: An online system evaluates the quality of a content publisher displaying sponsored content items. To determine a likelihood of conversion actions associated with the sponsored content items, the online system uses information about users and their interactions with sponsored content items featured within the content publisher against interactions with sponsored content items featured within a benchmark system (e.g., online system). By determining a ratio of these interactions, the online system can determine a likelihood of conversion actions for the content publisher. The online system uses this likelihood of conversions to determine a publisher quality score that it uses to normalize third party value contributions toward placing sponsored content items on the content publisher. Thus, third party systems no longer need to be concerned about the intrinsic value of a given content publisher as third party value contributions are normalized based on the content publisher's conversion rates.

  • Patent number: 10528984
Abstract: A system that analyzes a user's communications to select a promotion that is presented to the user. The analysis may occur in two stages: a first stage analyzes a single communication from a user to determine whether the user is a potential target for a promotion; for potential targets, a second stage analyzes a history of communications from the user to generate a user profile. The system may then select a promotion based on the profile. The profile may include a set of profile tags that are considerably more detailed and granular than traditional demographic data; tags may for example indicate user affiliations with groups or ideas (such as religions or political parties), or user life cycle stages. Using these rich, detailed user profile tags, the system may achieve promotion response rates far above those from traditional advertising, which relies on cookies or simple demographic categories.

  • Patent number: 10387915
Abstract: A digital magazine server scores digital magazines based on how related the digital magazines are to each of a set of topics in a topic vector space, which allows ranking for each topic the magazines that are most closely related to the topic. The digital magazine server generates a magazine vector for the magazine in the topic vector space by aggregating extracted topics for the magazine and compares the magazine vector to each of the topics to determine a magazine-topic relevance score that indicates the relevance of the digital magazine to each topic in the topic vector space. The digital magazine server then ranks each of the digital magazines by their magazine-topic relevance scores for a particular topic, e.g., a trending topic from a user request, and selects a top number of magazines for the trending topic for the user.

  • Patent number: 10332140
Abstract: A system or method is provided to detect the positions of various users in line and determine the users' tolerance for waiting in line. Based on the tolerance of the users for waiting in line, the system may rearrange the line positions of the users accordingly. The user's tolerance may be detected by their current position, their current movements and activities, the user's purchase or transaction history, interests and hobbies, past line waiting experience, and the like. In an embodiment, the system may determine incentives or rewards and may offer them to the users who are waiting in line to incentivize them to stay in line.
