  • Patent number: 8036071
Abstract: An optical disk and a method for identifying the optical disk making it possible to identify a recording system of the optical disk easily in a short time by a recording and reproduction apparatus when a groove-recording system and a land-recording system are both employed in one kind of optical disk, such as, for example, a BD-R. Specifically, a polarity upon reproducing wobble information is made to be the same in both an optical disk of groove-recording system and the optical disk of a land-recording system. The recording system of the optical disk that shows the same wobble polarity irrespective of the recording system can be easily detected by finding a tracking polarity that can recognize the wobble information by changing the tracking polarity, whereby the start-up time of the recording and reproduction apparatus can be shortened.

  • Patent number: 8027228
Abstract: An optical disk device executes a seek operation to move an irradiation position of light beam on an optical disk to a track of a target address. During execution of a seek operation through a one-track jump operation in which the irradiation position of the light beam is moved along the radial direction of the optical disk by one track, it is determined whether or not off-track of the irradiation position of the light beam has occurred. When it is determined that the off-track has occurred, a seek operation through a multiple track jump operation is executed in which the irradiation position of the light beam is moved along the radial direction of the optical disk by an amount corresponding to a plurality of tracks.

Abstract: There are provided an information providing system, a reproduction device and method, an information providing device and method, a recording medium, and a program capable of comparatively freely utilizing the content recorded on a disc according to the user preference. When download of an audio file of Japanese language is instructed, the update file of the content recorded on the optical disc (11) is downloaded. The Audio stream file as an audio file of Japanese language, the Clip Information file accompanying it, the Play List file controlling the reproduction of the Audio stream file, and the navigation program file which has been updated are recorded as the update file in a local storage (12). By the navigation program which has been updated, for example, the Audio stream file of Clip 3 as the Japanese language audio is reproduced. The present invention can be applied to a player to which a recording medium where the content has been recorded is detachably attached.

  • Patent number: 8000218
Abstract: Payload 0 as a header is recorded to a head of a UDI area. In the case of recording payload 0 and other payloads, each of them is quintuple-recorded in order to take a countermeasure against errors. Other payloads such as payload 1 and the like are recorded after payload 0. In the case of quintuple-recording, the payloads of the same payload number are collectively quintuple-recorded. AUDI is recorded from a position after one second from start time S. The payloads are arranged in positions at 12-frame intervals. Thus, the five data which is multiple-written are not arranged in the radial direction of a disc but widely distributed onto tracks. Error resistance is improved. An interval of data is set to an optimum value in accordance with the number of multiple-writing times, a linear velocity, a recording position on the disc, and the like.

  • Patent number: 8000195
Abstract: A signal processing system applicable to an electronic system having a storage unit, an indicator light, and a driving circuit includes a first signal processing unit, a second signal processing unit, and a signal computing unit. The indicator light will light up, if the electronic system does not access the storage unit for data. The first signal processing unit is electrically connected to the driving circuit and configured to receive a first pulse signal while the electronic system is accessing the storage unit for data, charge/discharge and transform the first pulse signal, to output a second pulse signal. The second signal processing unit receives the second pulse signal, charges/discharges and transforms the second pulse signal, to output a third pulse signal. The signal computing unit receives and computes the second and third pulse signals to generate a fourth pulse signal for driving the indicator light to perceivably glitter.

  • Patent number: 7990822
Abstract: Recording/reproducing apparatus records attribute information on sound data of a music piece onto a recording medium, and creates a rule table associating the attribute information and DSP program parameters. The recording/reproducing apparatus acquires, from the table, any of DSP program parameters that corresponds to the attribute information, and sets the DSP program parameter in the amplifier apparatus. The recording/reproducing apparatus also detects a recorded level of each succession of sound data to be recorded onto the medium, and then records the detected recorded level onto the medium in association with the sound data. Also, the recording/reproducing apparatus acquires a recorded level corresponding to a succession of the sound data to be reproduced, and adjusts, on the basis of the acquired recorded level, an output level of the succession of the sound.

  • Patent number: 7969839
Abstract: A method and apparatus for accomplishing an OPC (optimal power calibration) at a test area secured in data recording area of a writable optical recording medium and detecting an optimal writing power appropriate to the test area. The method searches for a marginal area adjacent to a data section recorded on an optical recording medium, records test data on the marginal area discovered in the searching step while changing a writing power; and reproduces the test data recorded on the marginal area and determining an optimal writing power based upon the characteristics of the reproduction signal. The method and system can reduce delay time required to move an optical pickup inward and outward to accomplish the OPC operation and enhances writing characteristics since an optimal writing power is obtained from a test area which is very close to data area to record input data.
