  • Patent number: 9628395
Abstract: Example embodiments may relate to web interfaces for a balloon-network. For example, a computing device may display a graphical interface that that includes one or more interface features to receive a request for use of bandwidth of a balloon network. In particular, the computing device may receive, via the graphical interface, input data corresponding to a bandwidth request for a first location, where the bandwidth request includes: (i) an indication of the first location and (ii) an indication of time. Subsequently, the computing device may receive an indication corresponding to whether or not the bandwidth request is accepted, where acceptance of the bandwidth request is based at least in part on expected movement of one or more balloons from a plurality of balloons in the balloon network. As such, the computing device may display, on the graphical interface, the indication corresponding to whether or not the bandwidth request is accepted.

  • Patent number: 9614687
Abstract: A conference controller receives access requests to access a conference session from respective callers. Responsive to the requests, the controller sends a conference identifier (ID) and respective agent discovery information to each of the callers. Each caller discovers an appropriate respective media agent based on the respective agent discovery information and sends a join request including the conference ID to that media agent. In turn, the media agents send requests for configuration information to the controller. Responsive to the requests from the media agents, the controller provides configuration information to the media agents that the media agents use to form a media connection with each other for the conference session through which the callers exchange media packets.

  • Patent number: 9614883
Abstract: The present invention concerns a method and a device of transmitting uncompressed video streams. In particular, the method concerns the adaptation of a wireless transmission to bandwidth reduction and packet loss. There is provided a computer implemented method for sending uncompressed video data, wherein the video data comprises binary video components, the method comprising generating a plurality of SB packets from a group of video components, each SB packet being constituted by bits of the video components grouped according to their significance; determining available bandwidth for transmission and sending the most SB packets to fit the available bandwidth, beginning by the most significant ones, meaning containing the most significant bits of the video components. Accordingly, the best possible quality is obtained according to the available bandwidth.

  • Patent number: 9584608
Abstract: Methods and systems for monitoring interesting subjects. A method including: selecting, based on a first collection of interesting subjects, a set of critical nodes including at least one critical node which participates in one or more interesting subjects in the first collection; and monitoring contents posted by the one or more critical nodes in the set so as to find a second collection of interesting subjects. The set of critical nodes which participate in one or more interesting subjects in the first collection of interesting subjects is selected based on the first collection, as objects to be monitored, thereby reducing the number of contents posted by the nodes to be monitored as compared with monitoring all the user nodes, so that interesting subjects such as hot news or hot events can be found in real time with high efficiency and low cost.

  • Patent number: 9572190
Abstract: A method automatically connects a device to a WiFi network. The method includes determining WiFi networks that are available for a connection thereto. The method includes categorizing each of the WiFi networks as a private WiFi network or a public WiFi network in which the private WiFi network utilizes a first association process while the public WiFi network utilizes a second association process. The method includes executing a first automatic connection process using the first association process until a successful connection is established to one of the private WiFi networks based upon a first prioritized list. The method includes executing a second automatic connection process until a successful connection is established to one of the public WiFi networks based upon a second prioritized list when the first automatic connection process to the private wireless networks is unsuccessful.

  • Patent number: 9560088
Abstract: Techniques for inter-user equipment (UE) transfer (IUT) are disclosed. An application server may receive an IUT request for transfer of a media session toward at least one initial UE such that the media session is to be played by at least two target UEs. The server may determine eligibility for IUT with group synchronization based on the request. The server may send a message to the initial UE that IUT with group synchronization is not allowed on a condition that IUT with group synchronization is not allowed. Further, the server may trigger inter-destination media synchronization (IDMS) for group synchronization of media sessions among the UEs on a condition that IUT with group synchronization is allowed. The media sessions may include a first media session and second media session. The media stream may be played by at least two UEs that are geographically separated after the transfer.

  • Patent number: 9549043
Abstract: Allocating resources in a content delivery environment is disclosed. An initial demand from initial clients for content is serviced by assigning those initial clients a first content source. A determination is made that additional demand from additional clients is either present or anticipated for the first content source. The initial demand and the additional demand together have a potential to overload the first content source. An interaction with a first initial client is adjusted to allow the additional demand to be at least partially serviced without overloading the content source.

  • Patent number: 9548940
Abstract: The invention provides a technique for assigning a server to manage resources. The server identifies a capacity value that represents a maximum number of resources that the server can simultaneously manage, and parses data included in a tracker directory to identify the resources that have the fewest number of servers assigned to manage them. Next, based on the capacity value, the server registers to manage the identified resources, where each registration to manage an identified resource results in the server actively managing the resource when no other server is registered to manage the resource, or acting as a backup manager to the resource when at least one other server is registered to manage the resource, and the tracker directory is updated accordingly. Finally, the server, for each registration that results in actively managing a resource, configures itself to process client device requests that are directed to utilizing the resource.

  • Patent number: 9544336
Abstract: The system and method detect and properly handle a glare condition in a SIP communication session. A glare condition is where a communication device has two concurrent outstanding requests (typically an incoming and an outgoing request that have not be acknowledged) and needs to process one of the requests before processing the other request. To detect a glare condition, the system and method identify that an out-of-dialog SIP request is received while an outgoing SIP request is pending. In response to detecting the glare condition, a glare algorithm is initiated. The glare algorithm ensures that outstanding requests will be handled in a timely manner.
