  • Patent number: 5804321
Abstract: A unitary article that is solid at a temperature in excess of about 1100.ree. C. which includes a diamond, a metal, and a brazing material brazing the diamond and the metal. The brazing material includes a metal carbide adhering to the diamond and a platinum family metal or nickel adhering to the metal. The platinum family metal has dissolved therein carbide forming metal and contains particles of metal carbide. The article is made by depositing a platinum family metal or nickel on a metal melting above the melting point of the platinum family metal or nickel, depositing a carbide forming metal which is soluble in molten platinum family metal or nickel, heating the assembly until platinum family metal or nickel is in a molten state, and cooling the molten platinum family metal or nickel to a solid state.

  • Patent number: 5465523
Abstract: A fishing lure of resilient material which when retrieved from the water successfully duplicates the natural swimming motion of an eel or a snake such that the head and the tail of the lure moves back and forth along the longitudinal axis of the lure. The lure has an elongated head portion with ridges, a mid-body portion with a U-shaped configuration, and an enlarged tail portion. The lure is characterized by a predetermined resilience, and along with its U-shaped configuration, causes undulating motion of the head and tail portions. As the lure is retrieved from the water, the water forces cause the lure to reach toward a linear configuration until the lure resiliency has reached a maximum, whereupon, the lure reverts to its U-shaped configuration and so on. An alternative embodiment of the lure characterizes a lizard.

  • Patent number: 5392554
Abstract: A multiple-point frame for mounting a self-aligning decoy. The frame provides multiple-points of attachment to the decoy thereby providing more stability and adaptability to various decoy body designs. A spindle having a concentrically mounted ball bearing is mounted on a stake, and further receives a sleeve in combination with the mounting frame. A ball bearing is also positioned within the sleeve so that when the ball be, axing mounted spindle is inserted within the sleeve, the friction between the two parts is substantially reduced. Consequently, the rotational movement about the spindle is enhanced.

  • Patent number: 5386658
Abstract: A metallic bead of appropriate size and shape for use as the head of a fishing fly has a bore for accepting a hook shank. The bore is of a smaller diameter at the front end and of a larger diameter at the rear end for approximately two thirds of the length of the bead. The bead is cut off at each end so that the overall length of the bore is 85% of the major diameter of the bead itself.

  • Patent number: 5381619
Abstract: A fishing rod with a hollow shaft that neither inhibits movement of the fishing line through the hollow shaft nor succumbs to frictional wear resulting from movement of the fishing line against the interior wall of the hollow shaft. The hollow shaft is made of a flexible material, such as fiberglass or graphite, and connected to a handle having a fishing reel oriented so that fishing line from the fishing reel is approximately aligned with and passes through the interior of the shaft. The interior surface of the hollow shaft is coated with a smooth, wear resistant material. The lower portion of the first coating is coated with a second material that is resistant to abrasion caused by repeated movement of the fishing line. Both coatings are nonreactive to the fishing line, thus minimizing frictional interaction between the interior of the hollow shaft and the fishing line moving therethrough. A reinforced tip maintains the integrity of the end of the hollow shaft.

  • Patent number: 5377442
Abstract: A bait rigging system, comprising a housing, a leader wire and a hook, whereby the bait rigging system has two methods of operation, one being inserting the hook into the throat of the bait and sliding the housing over the beak of the bait, and the other being sliding one end of the leader wire into the rear of the bait, exiting the leader wire at the bait's throat, pulling the wire forward until the hook which is attached to the other end of the leader wire fully engages the bait and then mounting the housing onto the open end of the leader wire and over the beak of the bait, and finishing the process in both methods by depressing a trigger into the housing to keep the bait in a locked and secure position.

  • Patent number: 5377444
Abstract: A fishing float includes a buoyant body having a central opening therethrough and a longitudinal body slot in an outer surface of the body. A rod through the opening includes a disk at each end thereof, each disk having curved slots. A fishing line is inserted in the body slot and the disk slots, and the rod rotated with respect to the body to thereby captivate the line between the disks and the outer surface of the body.

  • Patent number: 5375366
Abstract: The plate body of a hydrodynamic depressor is composed of a flat central panel flanked along its opposite longitudinal edges by side panels disposed at dihedral angles to the central panel. A housing carried by the forward portion of the body has a cylindrical crossbore receiving a cylindrical weight that can be shifted transversely of the fishing line and the fishing line and bait leader can be offset from the vertical longitudinal central plane of the depressor body to trim the depressor for traveling along a course offset to port or starboard from the course of the leading end of the fishing line. The upper and lower surfaces of the side panels are crinkled or rippled to form light-reflecting surfaces producing a glitter for attracting fish.

  • Patent number: 5375294
Abstract: A retractable caster assembly incorporating a strut lock formed of a sleeve mounted on the strut for sliding movement thereon, between closed position removed from the pivot axis and not interfering with the folding of the strut, and operative position seated over the pivot axis to hold the strut members in aligned, operative position and prevent their pivoting with respect to each other. Sleeve control means are mechanically associated with the sleeve automatically to move the sleeve to closed position when the wheel is being retracted and to operative position when the wheel is moved to operative position.

  • Patent number: 5373658
Abstract: The present invention provides for a balanced lure 10 which remains upright and which provides a large hook gap. The hook 40 is shaped in an approximate "2" manner, the lead head 18 cooperatively connected to the base, thereby residing on opposite side of the shank from the barbed point. The intersection of the base of the two and the arcuate section provides an area to secure the fish line. An offset portion 52 may be provided along the shank of hook 40 to secure either a plastic worm 22 or live bait and may be fished in either a vertical or horizontal manner.

  • Patent number: 5371922
Abstract: The present invention relates to a safety device for a baby walker which has a main wheel and an auxiliary wheel. By using a main wheel lock plate and a telescopic pipe, a ratchet on the main wheel can be prevented from blocking by a lock block under normal circumstances. While moving on a slope the lock plate will block the ratchet by its own weight to control baby walker without sliding. By using an auxiliary wheel lock plate and a fixed spring, the lock can also be blocked in normal circumstances. The auxiliary wheel can be suspended in the air and the movable shaft always faces toward the motion direction. In this way, the baby walker will not fall on a hollow ground (such as stairs) and will automatically stop sliding on a slope, with the lock block blocking the auxiliary wheel ratchet and auxiliary wheel friction surface.

  • Patent number: 5369905
Abstract: An apparatus for adjustably and detachably connecting an additional fishing rig consisting of a hook and a bait to a fishing line is described as having a slider member and a stop member. The slider member is freely moveable on the line while the stop member can be fixed thereon at a desired distance from the usual fishing rig. The stop member is larger than the slider member to prevent the slider and the leader thereon from moving closer to said usual fishing rig than a predetermined distance. The slider member has coiled members connected by angler portion to which a leader is tied.
