  • Patent number: 11979851
Abstract: A method for kinematic state estimation of a user equipment connected to a wireless communication network includes obtaining range rate measurement data defining a change rate of a distance between the user equipment and a range rate measuring position and obtaining range measurement data defining a distance between the user equipment and a range measuring position. A kinematic state estimation of the user equipment is performed based on at least the range rate measurement data and the range measurement data. The kinematic state estimation includes interacting-multiple-model filtering using three interacting models. The interacting-multiple-model filtering includes a three-dimensional constant velocity movement Wiener process, a three-dimensional constant acceleration movement Wiener process, and a three-dimensional constant position Wiener process.

  • Patent number: 11974351
Abstract: A device (110) arranged for wireless communication (130) according to a communication protocol has a processor (112) to execute a connection sequence according to a discovery protocol. The connection sequence comprises determining a current cluster identity and a current discovery window timing used by the device. Next, at least one other device (120,120?) within wireless range is detected, while further determining a detected cluster identity and a detected discovery window timing of the detected other device. Then it is detected whether the detected device is operating in a different cluster than the device by comparing the current cluster identity with the detected cluster identity or comparing the current discovery window timing with the detected discovery window timing. Finally, upon detecting said different cluster, a security process is executed, which may warn the user or abort the connection sequence. Thereby, a malicious device trying to manipulate the connection sequence is detected.

  • Patent number: 11968590
Abstract: A system for exchanging GPS or other position data between wireless devices for purposes of group activities, child location monitoring, work group coordination, dispatching of employees etc. Cell phones and other wireless devices with GPS receivers have loaded therein a Buddy Watch application and a TalkControl application. The Buddy Watch application communicates with the GPS receiver and other wireless devices operated by buddies registered in the users phone as part of buddy groups or individually. GPS position data and historical GPS position data can be exchanged between cell phones of buddies and instant buddies such as tow truck drivers via a buddy watch server. Emergency monitoring services can be set up with notifications to programmable individuals in case an individual does not respond. Positions and tracks can be displayed. TalkControl simplifies and automates the process of joining talk groups for walkie talkie services such as that provided by Nextel.

Abstract: Systems and methods for accommodating flexibility in sensing transmissions are provided. Wi-Fi sensing systems include sensing devices and remote devices configured to communicate through radio-frequency signals. Initially, a sensing device transmits a sensing configuration message to a remote device. The sensing device receives a sensing configuration response message in response to the sensing configuration message. In an example, the sensing configuration response message may include a transmission capability indication associated with the remote device. The transmission capability indication includes a flexibility indication that the remote device supports flexibility.

  • Patent number: 11930012
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method is provided for customization of a mobile communications device's data session retry mechanism in a wireless packet data service network. The mobile communication device requests activation of a data session with a node via the wireless network and receives a reject message via the wireless network in response to the request for activation of the data session, the reject message including a cause code. If the cause code corresponds to a no-retry behavior of the data session retry mechanism of the mobile communication device, the mobile communications device no longer requesting activation of a data session with the node.

  • Patent number: 11906632
Abstract: A handheld electronic device, such as a GPS-enabled wireless communications device with an embedded camera, a GPS-enabled camera-phone or a GPS-enabled digital camera, determines whether ephemeris data needs to be obtained for geotagging digital photos taken with the device. By monitoring user activity with respect to the camera, such as activation of the camera, the device can begin pre-acquisition of a GPS position fix by obtaining needed ephemeris data before the photograph is actually taken. This GPS pre-acquisition improves the likelihood that a position fix (GPS lock) is achieved by the time the photo is taken (to enable immediate geotagging). Alternatively, the photo can be geotagged retroactively by appending the current location to the metadata tag associated with the digital photo. An optional acquisition status indicator can be displayed on a user interface of the device to indicate that a position fix is being obtained.

  • Patent number: 11894920
Abstract: Apparatuses that provide for secure wireless communications between wireless devices under cover of one or more jamming signals. Each such apparatus includes at least one data antenna and at least one jamming antenna. During secure-communications operations, the apparatus transmits a data signal containing desired data via the at least one data antenna while also at least partially simultaneously transmitting a jamming signal via the at least one jamming antenna. When a target antenna of a target device is in close proximity to the data antenna and is closer to the data antenna than to the jamming antenna, the target device can successfully receive the desired data contained in the data signal because the data signal is sufficiently stronger than the jamming signal within a finite secure-communications envelope due to the Inverse Square Law of signal propagation. Various related methods and machine-executable instructions are also disclosed.
