  • Patent number: 7182357
Abstract: A motorcycle whose front end has a coil-over shock disposed within the head tube and telescopic forks which include linear bearings riding between flats on the outer face of the inner fork tubes and flats on the inner face of the outer fork tubes. The linear bearings ride on hardened steel races, enabling the fork tubes to be e.g. aluminum. Using an odd number of linear bearings in each fork prevents having two linear bearings at 180° opposition which would increase sensitivity to manufacturing tolerance stackups, preload, and the like.

  • Patent number: 7178614
Abstract: A traveling apparatus and a method for controlling thereof performs efficient charging with regenerative electrical power. An angle ?0 of a table (not illustrated) is detected by a gyroscopic sensor and an acceleration sensor to be supplied to a central control unit. Then, positional command signals Pref1(t) and Pref2(t) formed are supplied to motor control units which perform control of driving left and right motors respectively. Further, rotational positions ?m1 and ?m2 of the motors are respectively detected in rotary encoders, those det signals are fed back to the motor control units, and control is performed so as to comply with the positional command signals Pref1(t) and Pref2(t) formed in the central control unit.

  • Patent number: 7163230
Abstract: Apparatus (10) for helping to protect an occupant of a vehicle includes an inflatable vehicle occupant protection device (14) inflatable between the vehicle side structure (16) and a vehicle occupant. The device (14) defines an inflatable volume (58) that includes a forward portion (64) and a rearward portion (66). An inflation fluid source (24) is in fluid communication with a fill tube (22) and provides helium inflation fluid for inflating the device (14). The fill tube (22) includes outlet apertures (100) that direct the inflation fluid into the inflatable volume to inflate the device (14) initially to a first pressure and maintain the device inflated above a second pressure for a predetermined time. The inflation fluid directed into the inflatable volume (58) has a temperature and a pressure that are generally the same in the forward and rearward portions (64 and 66) during initial inflation of the device.

  • Patent number: 7156410
Abstract: A stabilizing system includes multi-stage locking pins connected to a trailer fifth-wheel plate and a tractor fifth wheel plate. Each multi-stage locking pin includes contiguous members that have altering diameters. A mechanism is included for telescopically displacing the contiguous members such that the contiguous members become aligned within a pair of apertures in the fifth-wheel plate assembly. The apertures are movable about the multi-stage locking pins. A speed detecting mechanism cooperates with the displacing mechanism for automatically adjusting the tolerance angle. The speed detecting mechanism emits intermittent notification signals to the displacing mechanism during transit. The tolerance angle has an inverse relationship to the tractor speed. A lower one of the contiguous members has a diameter generally equal to a diameter of the apertures respectively and a top one of the contiguous members has a diameter less than the aperture diameters.
