  • Patent number: 8044814
Abstract: The invention provides a system and battery including a state-of-charge indicator (SOCI) to monitor and display the amount of charge within the battery. The SOCI is capable of operating in a hibernate mode, an active mode, and/or a sleep mode. The battery may be manufactured, shipped and/or stored with the SOCI operating in a power-saving hibernate mode. The SOCI may exit the hibernate mode and begin operating in active mode if a physical key connected to the battery is removed. In addition, the SOCI may operate in a sleep mode while the battery is not being used to conserve power. Furthermore, the invention provides a method of making a battery including a SOCI to monitor and display the state of charge of the battery.

  • Patent number: 7408445
Abstract: A system for generating a reminder signal to one or more individuals exiting a vehicle for purposes of preventing the inadvertent leaving of a child, pet or other object therein. A sensor assembly monitors the presence of an individual within a predetermined proximity area and actuates an alarm assembly so as to generate a demonstrable reminder signal of significant intensity. A control assembly operatively connected to the sensor assembly comprises both arming and shut-off capabilities which are automatically and/or manually operable, respectively, to activate and deactivate the sensor assembly. In operation, the sensor assembly will cause the alarm assembly to generate the reminder signal upon the passage of one or more individuals out of the predetermined proximity area thereby forcing a return to the vehicle to deactivate the system, wherein the interior of the vehicle is readily observable to determine the existence of an inadvertently left object.

  • Patent number: 7369057
Abstract: A generator monitoring system and method includes a plurality of sensors (12) disposed within a generator enclosure (18) to sense health conditions of a generator (10) housed within the enclosure. The sensors are interconnected to provide a single communication path (14) for allowing communication with the plurality of sensors. A monitoring device (16) outside the generator enclosure receives health condition information from each of the plurality of sensors via the single communication path. A sensor may be disposed within the generator enclosure to detect particulates emitted from a monitored portion (e.g., 52) of the generator housed within the enclosure. A sensor may be disposed proximate a bus bar connection (130) of the generator to sense a health condition of the bus bar connection and generate corresponding health condition information provided to the monitoring device.

  • Patent number: 7362231
Abstract: An ergonomic lightweight hand pressure sensor-warning device for use with hand held objects like sport devices, steering devices, writing devices or computer devices, as well as the method for its assembly. This new hand pressure sensor warning device is designed as a relatively thin plaster/band-aid to attach the device onto the outside surface of the handgrips of hand held devices like a golf club, making the attachment to and detachment from the hand held device very simple and user-friendly. The device contains an electrical membrane switch, an electrical indicator with an alarm device and a streamlined oblong housing element which contains the principal components in a compact unit. Due to its low manufacturing costs, the warning device is also highly attractive as a commercial advertising product and as a corporate gift or premium product. The unintended and unexpected detachment of the device during a golf swing is practically impossible.

  • Patent number: 7352278
Abstract: A vehicle hazard warning system and method are provided wherein a center high mounted rear stop light (“CHMSL”) is connected to the vehicle's 4-way emergency flasher circuit so that it flashes simultaneously with at least the vehicle's rear turn signal lights, and preferably with the front turn signal lights as well. This creates a more effective warning signal that the vehicle is a potential hazard to other vehicles approaching from the rear. The CHMSL can also be connected to automatically commence such flashing simultaneously with activated steady back up lights of the vehicle, whenever the vehicle is moving rearward.
