Patent number: 4643412Abstract: A guide block (11) has a groove (16) with a flat floor cut into it, in which an endless belt (15) containing perforations (17) travels. A suction opening (18) opens into the floor of the groove (16), to which a vacuum is periodically applied by means of a valve (12). The endless belt (15) travels over a stack (1) of sheets (2) by means of guide rollers (4,5) and a drive roller (3). The vacuum, when periodically applied by the valve (12), operates through the perforations (17) so that the topmost sheet (2) of the stack (1) is sucked against the endless belt (15) and carried away in the same direction (28). One preferred form of the endless belt (15) is a toothed belt, with spaces between the teeth (21) that form vacuum chambers (22). With this compact and therefore easily positionable device, sheets (2) are sucked up from a stack (1) and transported away while maintaining their orientation, meaning that very high production rates are attained.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 1985Date of Patent: February 17, 1987Assignee: Maschinenbau Oppenweiler Binder GmbH & Co.Inventors: Karl-Fritz Heina, Adolf Hornung, Kurt Worner, Klaus Wolf

Patent number: 4641829Abstract: A screen printing apparatus is provided for transferring sheet materials from a supply area to a printing table. The apparatus has a pair of grippers which are guided jointly over the printing table in a timed manner in order to grip a blank sheet at a feeding table and pull it over the printing table. The two grippers are separately guided above the printing table in such a way that their movements take place in opposite directions to one another and that one of the gripper fails passes over the other one in the area of the center of the printing table. This design has the advantage that during the transport by a first gripper of a sheet to be printed on the printing table, a second gripper rail already returns to its starting position. Therefore, when the printed sheet is removed from the printing table, a new sheet can be placed thereupon immediately. Idle times for the conveying of the sheets to be printed are eliminated with the use of only two grippers.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 1985Date of Patent: February 10, 1987Assignee: Werner Thieme GmbH & Co. Patent number: 4637598Abstract: A holder for a stack of sheets which can be fed therefrom in successive cycles from the bottom of the stack and returned to the top of the stack or, in the last cycle, discharged to a tray. The holder includes a separator which can be engaged between the sheets of the stack for separating returned sheets from the other sheets of the stack. A detection system is provided for detecting sheets that have been placed in the holder (for starting a first cycle) and for detecting when all of the sheets have been returned to the holder (for starting a next cycle). The detection system includes a light source and a light sensitive detector installed at the bottom of the stack. When, by the feeding of sheets, the separator reaches the bottom of the stack, the separator intercepts the light from the light source to cause a signal from the detector. This signal is similar to the signal of the detector when the holder is empty, but which signal differs from the reaction of the detector when a sheet intercepts the light.Type: GrantFiled: July 12, 1985Date of Patent: January 20, 1987Assignee: Oce-Nederland B.V.Inventors: Jan M. Patent number: 4618135Abstract: The invention relates to a sheet feeder for the individual feeding of sheets to a sheet treating machine. A first sheet pile is carried by a main pile table, and sheets from this sheet pile can be fed by a sheet separating device, optionally via a first feed table, to the sheet treating machine. A further sheet pile is carried by an auxiliary pile table. Sheets can be fed by a second sheet separating device from this further sheet pile to the sheet treating machine, again optionally via a second feed table. Using this arrangement, in place of the sheets from the first pile table, sheets from the auxiliary pile table can be fed to the sheet treating machine without interruption, as the sheet feed from the two piles is carried out in the same rhythm. Preferably a control circuit is used to meter out a selected number of prerun sheets from the auxiliary pile table followed without interruption by another selected number of continuous running sheets.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 1985Date of Patent: October 21, 1986Assignee: MABEG Maschinenbau GmbH & CompanyInventors: Harry Greiner, Adolf Schwebel
