  • Patent number: 4632334
Abstract: In a tape cassette possessing symmetrically arranged support liners, a compressive force dependent on the tape roll diameter is exerted by the liner and utilized for centering the roll and the tape. Force/diameter relationships, and embodiments of folded liners for achieving individual forces are described. A novel dynamic liner arrangement can be used in any tape cassette possessing high winding speeds and sensitive tapes, with frequently alternating rewind/playback operation.

  • Patent number: 4623105
Abstract: A video cassette with two reels which are arranged in plane-parallel fashion for winding and unwinding a magnetic tape and with a locking mechanism consisting of a pivotal two-armed pawl for each reel which can be slipped on a support. One lever arm engages in a toothed reel flange in the inoperative position of the cassette and the other lever arm rests on the disengaging component of a vertically rotatable release lever. The locking mechanism also includes moulded pre-tensioning arms, the deflection points of the pre-tensioning arms rigid with the housing at the support lie close to the rotational axis of the pawl.

  • Patent number: 4621779
Abstract: A tape cassette, in particular a video cassette, comprises two flanged reels and, between the flanges of each reel, a spring member as a biassing means to prevent the tape from slipping off the roll or folding over. The spring members can be attached to the side walls or rear wall of the housing, and their free ends constantly bear against the peripheries of the tape rolls. In specific embodiment the spring member advantageously includes the braking spring for a reel-braking device. By using a conductive material on one or both sides of the spring member and appropriately arranging the spring member relative to a tape guide element or to an element grounded on the tape recorder, it is possible to directly prevent tape loop formation, which is a cause of tape slippage and folding-over. Moreover, tape winding and unwinding are improved.

  • Patent number: 4614315
Abstract: A bi-directional tape recorder having a single tape tension control device operable in both directions of tape transport. A flexible brake band is wrapped around a braking disc, both ends of the band being secured to the chassis. A tape tension sensing lever presses against a substantially taut part of the brake band between the braking disc and one of the two fixed ends, so that a force exerted by the lever transversely to the brake band produces a change in tensile force in the brake band which is larger than that exerted by the lever.

  • Patent number: 4613095
Abstract: A plate spring for tape cassettes advantageously consists of two long and two short spring arms whose shapes and dimensions are optimized to achieve minimum wastage of material during punching from a sheet-metal strip. The length of the fastening arms is preferably about the same as the width of the ends of the long spring arms or less or at most 1.5 times the width. The spring can be used for all types of tape cassettes, regardless of whether they contain magnetic tape, film or other recording media. A tape cassette possesses a plate spring which has this form and is fastened by welding.

  • Patent number: 4611737
Abstract: A tractor for feeding perforated webs, such as perforated paper in a computer printer, typewriter or the like has a frame which locates a sprocket and a belt having pins projecting from the belt and lugs driven by the sprocket. To provide precision feeding of the web the lid is arranged with respect to the frame so that the web is maintained substantially at the pitch line of the belt where the pins enter, are engaged by and leave the perforations. The distance between the surface of the lid which faces the belt and the belt surface is limited such that the perforations contact the pin surface below a critical position where the web clings to the pins. This is the position where the angle between the surface of the belt and a line from the position of repose perpendicular to a tangent to pin surface which intersects the belt surface is equal to the art tangent of the coefficient of friction between the web and pin materials.

  • Patent number: 4610380
Abstract: A stagger feeder for a downstream machine such as a power press and the like is disclosed having a structure particularly suited to provide an actual linear path of movement of an activated feed head identical to the effective feed stroke of the material being moved by that feed head. Two movable feed heads are linked together mechanically, and the motion of these feed heads is controlled by a crank mechanism actuated by an indexing mechanism to trigger a pre-pressurized drive cylinder to effect feed stroking. Simplified adjustment of the effective length of the feed stroke is provided by the direct action stagger feeder of this invention to readily accommodate different size blanks in the downstream machine.

  • Patent number: 4605148
Abstract: Planetary wire-feeding device having a body with a hollow threaded shank. On the body there are two two-arm levers pivotally mounted thereon, the levers having long and short arms. The short arms of the levers are in contact with the outer faces of radially reciprocable pistons which carry wire-feeding rolls. The long arms of the two-arm levers are in contact by means of guiding rolls with a guiding cone which is mounted axially movable along the hollow threaded shank of the body. The internal side of the guiding cone is in contact with one end of a coil compression spring which embraces the hollow threaded shank. The other end of the spring is in contact with an adjustable abutment or calibrating its compressive force. The device of the invention allows a variable calibration of the pushing force as required, changing in the diameter, type of material, etc.

  • Patent number: 4588142
Abstract: A stationary or mobile cable spooling system for winding up electrical cables used on drilling rigs comprised of an axle for insertion into a cable spool, a yoke for rotationally mounting the axle, a hydraulic motor coupled to the axle for rotating the spool and a cable guide system which evenly winds the cable onto the spool. The cable guide system is comprised of a cable guide mounted on a diamond grooved shaft which traverses from one side of the shaft to the other guiding the cable onto the spool. The hydraulic motor is driven by a pressure compensated hydraulic pump which prevents excessive force being applied to the cable as it is being wound on a spool. If the cable should catch or bind in any fashion and the stress on the cable exceeds a certain amount, the hydraulic motor will slowly stop when the pressure in the hydraulic pump exceeds a pre-determined amount.
