  • Patent number: 4889012
Abstract: A torque converter turbine, clutch and output shaft are interconnected by a planetary gear arrangement. The gear arrangement combines the output of the turbine and clutch, when engaged, at the torque converter output shaft. The turbine provides a reaction for the gear set so that transient torque spikes, or torsional vibrations, are effectively dampened by permitting the turbine to decrease in speed, and thereby absorb the torque spike energy. A clutch, between the turbine and output shaft, prevents the turbine from overrunning the output shaft when the torque converter clutch is disengaged. The clutch transmits torque from the turbine to the output shaft when the torque converter clutch is disengaged.

  • Patent number: 4730505
Abstract: A power change-over mechanism of a vehicle for industrial machinery including a spool divided into two members: an outer peripheral side member having splines freely meshed with splines of high-speed and low-speed gears and an inner peripheral side member having a spline freely meshed with splines of first and second driving shafts, an inner peripheral sub-spline constantly meshing with the first driving shaft being further formed on the outer peripheral side member, the outer peripheral side member being clearance fitted onto an outer periphery of the inner peripheral side member, and the inner and outer peripheral side members being connected relatively movable with respect to each other in the axial direction through a damper means.

  • Patent number: 4720000
Abstract: The external sleeve of a slip brake in a torque wrench with a pair of clutches in series is provided with a spiral groove which houses lubricant. "O" rings at opposite ends of the external sleeve cooperate with an internal sleeve to seal in the lubricant. The slip brake of the present invention incorporates an internal split ring or drum which is adjustable to set the desired bias load of the slip brake. However, the split ring or drum is encased in a very thin steel sleeve which is attached, as by soldering, to the split ring. The outer surface of the thin steel sleeve abutts the inner surface of the outer ring and serves as the brake drum. Although the split ring is encased in a thin steel sleeve, the sleeve is thin enough (from about 0.025" to 0.030" thick) so that this sleeve will stretch when the split ring is expanded to increase the bias load on the slip brake.

  • Patent number: 4052825
Abstract: In the production of a wall element being, on its one side, provided with wall-tiles of brick or other suitable wall-facing material, said tiles being rectangular and bedded on the wall element in rows with joint spacing, the method comprising placing the wall element horizontally with the side intended for the tiles facing upwards. This upper side is covered with a layer of mortar for bedding the tiles, after which the tiles are pressed down into the mortar in rows with joint spacing, in such a manner that mortar is forced up laterally of the tiles and fills the joint between the tiles.A wall-tile of brick or other suitable wall-facing material, which is rectangular and intended to be bedded by means of mortar, together with other such tiles, in rows with joint spacing on a prefabricated wall element, and is substantially U-shaped in cross-section. The front face of the tile defines the outer face of the web, while the outer sides of the legs consist of one pair of the opposing sides of the tile.
