  • Patent number: 10187764
Abstract: A system and method for automatic electronic payment based on the detection of a mobile station adapted to operate in a cellular telecommunications network. The system and method transmit, on the part of a transmitter associated with a Near Field Focused (NFF) base station, which is external to the cellular telecommunications network, a signal that indicates the presence of the NFF base station by mimicking the signal of an antenna of the cellular network. A request for connection to the NFF base station that originates from the mobile station is detected. An identity request signal to the mobile station is transmitted. The system and method detect an identity reply signal sent by the mobile station. Identification data of a subscriber is determined. The subscriber is billed on the basis of the determined subscriber identification data.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for sharing wireless resource information by a cell in a multi-cell wireless communication system. More particularly, the method for sharing wireless resource information by a cell according to the present invention comprises: a step of transmitting wireless resource information to a neighbor cell; and a step of receiving an acknowledgement message corresponding to the wireless resource information from the neighbor cell. The wireless resource information is information for changing the used of the wireless resource of a specific wireless resource region, and the acknowledgement message is a message indicating whether the change in use of the wireless resource is allowed in the neighbor cell.

  • Patent number: 10136262
Abstract: The present disclosure discloses a method and network device for detecting movement in a physical environment. Specifically, a network device obtains a first feedback information for a first set of wireless signals transmitted by a first device in a physical environment and received by a second device in the physical environment. Moreover, the network device obtains a second feedback information for a second set of wireless signals transmitted by the first device and received by the second device. The network device then compares the first feedback information to the second feedback information to identify a first set of one or more difference values. Based on the first set of one or more difference values, the network device determines that one or more physical entities within the physical environment have moved.

  • Patent number: 10117223
Abstract: A method and system for paging of a wireless client device (WCD). When a wireless communication system encounters a trigger to page a WCD, the system will identify the WCD's most recent serving base station (e.g., the WCD's currently registered base station, or the base station providing the WCD's currently registered coverage area) and will determine whether that base station is a relay base station or rather a non-relay base station. If the base station is a non-relay base station, then the system will provide the initial page of the WCD via just that base station (e.g., as in the zone based paging process discussed above). Whereas, if the base station is a relay base station, then the system will provide the initial (ordinal first) page of the WCD via both that base station and the donor base station that provides the relay base station's wireless backhaul connection.

  • Patent number: 10028246
Abstract: Femtocells are often used to extend the coverage of wireless telecommunication networks, but do not typically incorporate mechanisms that allow their location to be easily ascertained. As described herein, a system may determine the locations of femtocells, based on the locations of user devices that attach to, detach from, handover between, and/or detect the femtocells. A map (such as a three-dimensional map) may be generated based on the determined locations of femtocells. The locations of femtocells may be used, for example, in emergency broadcast situations, in order to ensure that messages are distributed as completely as possible in a given region.

  • Patent number: 9992314
Abstract: Techniques are described for automatic device mode switching. In an implementation an electronic device provides a variety of functionality through multiple modes of the electronic device. The electronic device may be configured to toggle between modes when inserted into or removed from a corresponding mounting device. In an implementation, one operational mode may be automatically activated upon insertion of the electronic device into the mounting device. Another operational mode may be automatically activated when the electronic device is removed from the mounting device. In another implementation, multiple modes of an electronic device may be associated with multiple orientations of the device. An orientation detector may provide signals indicative of orientation, which when detected causes automatic activation of an associated operational mode.

  • Patent number: 9986451
Abstract: A method is provided for transceiving a signal through at least two data streams in a wireless communication system. A first base station measures a wireless channel state for a link with a second base station by using an orthogonal pilot signal. The first base station receives channel status information related to a link of a first mobile station from the first mobile station, channel status information related to a link of a second mobile station from the second mobile station, and channel status information related to a device-to-device (D2D) link from the second mobile station. The D2D link is a channel link between the mobile stations. The first base station exchanges the received channel status information with the second base station, the first mobile station and the second mobile station using a broadcast signal, and determines data stream directions of the first base station and the second base station.

  • Patent number: 9955283
Abstract: A communication system for supporting machine type communication within a cellular communication network is described in which a communication device is allocated a permanent offline area in which the communication device is expected to be located whilst not attached for communication within the network. The communication device identifies a cell in which the communication device is currently located and determines whether or not the cell forms part of the permanent offline area or a temporary offline area that comprises a previously visited cell that is not part of the permanent offline area. If these areas do not comprise the cell in which the communication device is currently located, the communication device attaches to the network and communicates information identifying the cell in which the communication device is currently located to the network.

  • Patent number: 9924449
Abstract: A wireless communication device (WCD) stores a location of a portable WAP and is configured to report the stored location of the portable WAP to a location-based service provider (LBSP) when the WCD is within coverage of the portable WAP and requests a location-based service from the LBSP. While the WCD is within coverage of the portable WAP, the WCD (i) uses a wireless-communication interface to detect that the WCD is also within one or more particular cellular coverage areas and (ii) stores a correlation between the portable WAP and the one or more particular cellular coverage areas. Thereafter, while the WCD is again within coverage of the portable WAP, the WCD determines that the WCD is not within coverage of the one or more particular cellular coverage areas. In response, the WCD reconfigures itself to not report the stored location of the portable WAP to the LBSP when the WCD requests the location-based service.
