Abstract: Various embodiments of the present invention provide systems and methods for data regeneration. For example, a system for regenerating data is disclosed. The system includes a media defect detector that is operable to identify a potential media defect associated with a medium from which an input signal is derived, an attenuation amplitude detector that generates an attenuation factor, and a data detector. The data detector includes a first data path and a second data path. The first data path includes a bank of two or more selectable noise prediction filters and the second data path includes a fixed noise prediction filter and the attenuation factor. The data detector processes a derivative of the input signal using the second data path when the potential media defect is indicated, and processes the derivative of the input signal using the first data path when a media defect is not indicated.

Abstract: A contact detecting device includes: n driving electrodes that are arranged in a scanning direction; a detection drive scanning unit that selects continuous m (2?m<n) driving electrodes out of the n driving electrodes, simultaneously AC-drives the selected m driving electrodes, and repeats shift operation for changing selection targets of the m driving electrodes in the scanning direction such that one or more driving electrodes common before and after the shift operation performed each time are included in the selection targets; plural detection electrodes that form capacitors, between which and the respective n driving electrodes capacitors are formed; plural detection circuits that are connected to the plural detection electrodes and compare potentials of the detection electrodes corresponding thereto with a predetermined threshold every time the detection drive scanning unit performs the shift operation.
Abstract: An apparatus includes a read/write head disposed on a slider, a control circuit disposed on the slider, and an adjustable delay line disposed on the slider. The adjustable delay line delays transmission of aligned write data to the read/write head by an adjustable delay. The adjustable delay is controlled by the control circuit a function of read synchronization data provided by the read/write head.
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device includes first and second substrates arranged to face each other with a predetermined gap, and a liquid crystal layer sealed between the first and second substrates. The first substrate includes pixel electrodes and thin-film transistors connected with the pixel electrodes. The transistors are turned on based on a scanning signal from scanning lines to electrically connect the pixel electrodes to signal lines. The second substrate has an opposed electrode, which forms pixels in areas facing the pixel electrodes. The device also has a touch input contact point provided on either the pixel electrodes or the opposed electrode to correspond to a previously selected pixel. The contact point protrudes at a height smaller than the gap between the first and second substrates and is brought into conduction by flexural deformation caused by a pressing force of a touch onto the first or second substrates.
Abstract: The present invention provides an electronic apparatus, such as a lighting device comprised of light emitting diodes (LEDs) or a power generating apparatus comprising photovoltaic diodes, which may be created through a printing process, using a semiconductor or other substrate particle ink or suspension and using a lens particle ink or suspension. An exemplary apparatus comprises a base; at least one first conductor; a plurality of substantially spherical or optically resonant diodes coupled to the at least one first conductor; at least one second conductor coupled to the plurality of diodes; and a plurality of substantially spherical lenses suspended in a polymer attached or deposited over the diodes. The lenses and the suspending polymer have different indices of refraction. In some embodiments, the lenses and diodes have a ratio of mean diameters or lengths between about 10:1 and 2:1.

Abstract: A method of reproducing data from an information storage medium having a plurality of recording layers, each layer having a user data area, on which data is recordable by a pickup. A first amount of data is reproduced from a recording layer located closest to the pickup and lesser amounts of data than the first amount of data are reproduced from other ones of the plurality of recording layers. The amount of data reproduced from each of the other ones of the plurality of recording layers progressively decreases from the recording layer closest to the pickup to a recording layer farthest from the pickup.

Abstract: A display device includes a plurality of thin-film transistors formed on a substrate on which a display area is formed. The display device also includes a gate electrode, a gate insulating film formed so as to cover the gate electrode, an semiconductor layer in an island shape formed on an upper surface of the gate insulating film so as to superimpose the gate electrode without protruding from the gate electrode when viewed planarly, an insulating film formed so as to cover the semiconductor layer, and a pair of electrodes electrically connected to the semiconductor layer respectively through a pair of through holes that are formed at the insulating film. The semiconductor layer is formed by sequentially laminating a crystalline semiconductor layer and an amorphous semiconductor layer. The pair of electrodes is respectively formed by sequentially laminating a semiconductor layer doped with impurities and a metal layer.
Abstract: An address driving circuit includes a driving device unit and an energy recovery circuit. The driving device unit drives an address electrode to an address voltage or a reference voltage in response to driving control signals during an address period. The energy recovery circuit recovers a voltage charged to the address electrode in response to switching control signals such that a voltage of the address electrode transitions to the address voltage or the reference voltage via at least two intermediate voltages including first and second intermediate voltages during the address period.

Abstract: An information storage medium and a method and apparatus for recording/reproducing data on/from the information storage medium. The information storage medium includes a plurality of recording layers, each having a user data area, on which data can be recorded by a pickup. Data is recorded in the order of recording layers from closest to farthest from the pickup, and a recordable region in a user data area of a recording layer on which data is to be recorded is smaller than that in a recording layer between the pickup and the recording layer on which data is to be recorded. Each recording layer contains a recordable region in a user data area and a optimum power control (OPC) area in order to maintain the same recording/reproducing characteristics between the plurality of recording layers.
