    Abstract: A coating composition for use with ceramic composites to reduce gas permeability of the composites as well as provide an adhesive force to the composites. The composite contains a base fabric of aluminoborosilicate fibers coated with first a carbonaceous layer, followed by a layer of silicon carbide, and a layer of a mixture of silicon carbide, aluminum phosphate, and aluminoborosilicate particles.
