Abstract: A method and system (100) for conveying a video message is disclosed. Video data comprising at least image data and associated audio data is captured and a video message structure (401) is created. A link is established between the structure (401) and the video data to create a structured video message. The structured video message is characterized by a video message structure (401) that provides an originator (103), of the message, enhanced manipulation capabilities for the video data by manipulating the structure (401). The structured video message can be conveyed to a recipient for viewing and/or for providing the recipient substantially the same enhanced manipulation capabilities.

Abstract: A system and associated method for enabling a user to determine the status of other users and to identify communications procedures for contacting the other users based on the status of the other users. The system includes a plurality of communications devices each associated with a user. Each of the communications devices is operable for the associated user to self assign a user status and communications procedures for contacting the associated user as a function of the user status. Each of the communications devices associated with a user is operable for displaying the user status of the other users. A hybrid fiber coax (HFC) communications network is operable with the communications device for providing continuous communications connectivity of a plurality of users with one another through an Internet. Each of the communications devices associated with a user is operable for displaying the communications procedures associated with the other users for contacting the other users.
Abstract: An apparatus comprising a first circuit and a second circuit. The first circuit may be configured to (i) generate a sorted list of permanent unique identifiers according to predetermined criteria and (ii) associate a logical identification with a physical address identifier using the sorted list. The second circuit may be configured to manage communications between a host and a target. The second circuit may (i) communicate with the host using the logical identification and (ii) communicate with the target using the physical address identifier. The communications between the host and the target may be unaffected by changes in the physical address identifier. The function of the first circuit and/or the second circuit may be implemented, among other examples, in software and/or firmware.
Abstract: A server computer handles multiple data flows between itself and other devices. The server has one or more applications that allocate bandwidth to respective flows and a network protocol stack that implements those allocations. When bandwidth allocations are made in accordance with a bandwidth allocation policy, the protocol stack in the network server enforces the policy. The network protocol stack provides a programming interface that allows the application to specify the bandwidth allocation for a flow. The network protocol stack then enforces this allocation unless there is no shortage of available bandwidth.

Abstract: A system and method for a secure cached subscription system is described. In one embodiment, the system comprises a content provider and a caching device connected to the content provider. The content provider speculatively downloads information into the caching device based upon a user's data. A processing device is connected via a high-bandwidth connection to the caching device for processing the information.
