  • Patent number: 6006409
Abstract: A clamping and separating device for removal of bearing shells has first and second jaws and at least one bolt inserted in an insertion direction into the first and second jaws for clamping the first and second jaws relative to one another. The bolt has depressions arranged in a longitudinal direction of the bolt and spaced relative to one another in the longitudinal direction. A locking element is mounted in the first jaw and selectively engages in a locking position one of the depressions for locking the bolt. A spring biases the locking element in a direction counter to the insertion direction into a rest position. The locking element is releaseable from the locking position against the force of the spring to allow removal of the bolt in a direction counter to the insertion direction.

  • Patent number: 6006411
Abstract: This bearing carrier puller for extracting a bearing carrier from a lower gear case of a marine drivetrain consists of three components: a boss which envelopes a propeller shaft and is secured to it by a nut and washer; a block which bears against a lower gear case of a marine drivetrain; and a nut which threads over the boss and bears against the block to extract a bearing carrier. A first disclosed improvement prevents rotation of the boss relative to the block by means of structural configurations on the mating surfaces of the block and boss. A second improvement prevents the boss from being drawn through the block beyond a desired point by means of a stop. An additional embodiment of the second improvement prevents the nut from traveling on the boss in the direction of a first end beyond a desired point by means of a stop. A third improvement enhances gripping of the block with a wrench by means of a polygonal surface configuration extending along the periphery of the block from its' second end.

  • Patent number: 6000681
Abstract: A saddle structure for a jack device is provided with a rotatable saddle mounted to the fixed saddle of an extension member of a jack device. The rotatable saddle is retained, at least partially, within the fixed saddle for structural reinforcement. The Rotatable saddle provides an interface between the extension member of the jack device and the object to be lifted. The rotatable saddle is freely rotatable about a central axis of the extension member to allow the jack device to be independently oriented with respect to the object to be lifted. The fixed saddle structurally supports the rotatable saddle and is rigidly fixed to the extension member. Such an arrangement provides an adjustable interface between the jack device and the object to be lifted while maintaining the structural integrity of the interface.

  • Patent number: 5991995
Abstract: An apparatus for removing an outer layer from a portion of a multi layer tube is disclosed. The apparatus includes a support assembly which holds the portion of the tube at a preset position. A nozzle is fluidly connected to a source of high pressure water and has its outlet directed towards the portion of the tube. A relative, rotary motion about a concentric axis between the nozzle and the tube directs the water such that it removes the outer layer from the tube portion around the entire circumfery of the tube. In one embodiment, the nozzle is held stationary while the tube portion is rotated relative to the nozzle while in a second embodiment the tube portion is held stationary while the nozzle is rotated relative to the tube portion. The apparatus is particularly useful for removing an outer nylon covering from a metal tube.
