Patent number: 6048223Abstract: Terminal block comprising two connection devices In this terminal block, each connection device has a stripping and retaining slot provided with a wire entry at one end, as well as an insulating casing having, opposite the slots, an opening allowing a wire facing the wire entry to be inserted and slid into the slot. The stripping slots are approximately parallel and the wire entries face each other. The terminal block also has, placed between the two connection devices, a double pusher fitted so as to slide parallel to the direction of the stripping slots between a position of interpenetration with respect to a first connection device and a position of interpenetration with respect to the other connection device.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 1999Date of Patent: April 11, 2000Assignee: Entrelec S.A.Inventors: Bernard Bechaz, Luc Doutaz, Ariel Ruz

Patent number: 5812042Abstract: A laminated superconducting magnet includes a multilayer short-circuit superconductor group 2 formed by uniting superposed hollow superconducting plates, and an exciting coil 3 for inducing a current from an external power source 4 to the multilayer short-circuit superconductor group 2 for operation in a permanent current mode. Even if some of the superconducting plates are quenched, the other normal superconducting plates share the excess current temporarily. Therefore, the entire superconducting magnet is not quenched.Type: GrantFiled: February 20, 1996Date of Patent: September 22, 1998Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Naoki Maki, Nobuhiro Hara, Shigeru Kakugawa, Masayuki Shibata, Noriaki Hino, Kenichi Hattori

Patent number: 5550338Abstract: The present thermal shield comprises, in essence, a dimensionally stable substrate (2) on which is disposed a sound-absorbing thermal insulating layer (3). This thermal insulating layer is provided with a protective coating (4). According to the disclosure, all layers of the thermal shield consist of a light metal, particularly of aluminum or an aluminum alloy. For acoustic reasons, the thermal insulating layer is made up of an open-pore structure, especially of aluminum wool. In a further development, the thermal insulating layer is made up of several plies, and the dimensionally stable substrate (2) is perforated. A thin protective layer (5) acting as a foil absorber is arranged between the substrate (2) and the thermal insulating layer (3). This thermal shield is utilized with preference in the automobile industry.Type: GrantFiled: May 30, 1995Date of Patent: August 27, 1996Assignee: Matec Holding AGInventor: Peter Hielscher

Patent number: 5426479Abstract: An apparatus for changing a size of a camera's photographing aperture, which defines an image area on a film, includes a mechanism for intercepting light within the photographing aperture. The light intercepting mechanism is movable between a retracted position, in which the aperture is fully opened, and a projected position, in which the aperture is partly covered. The apparatus further includes an association mechanism which moves the light intercepting mechanism between the retracted position and the projected position. At least a forward most projecting edge of the light intercepting mechanism is moved towards the film when the light intercepting mechanism is moved into the projected position.Type: GrantFiled: January 6, 1994Date of Patent: June 20, 1995Assignee: Asahi Kogaku Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Yuji Ogawa

Patent number: 5414489Abstract: An elongated light source of the type employed in a document scanner for forming a line of uniform intensity, diffuse illumination at a document scanning plane. The light source has a longitudinally extending aperture for generating a line of light aligned with the light entrance end face of a generally planar, light conducting pipe. The light conducting pipe conducts light through its length and emits the light at a light exiting end face in proximity to a document scanning plane. The emitted light is spectrally filtered within the light pipe by the selected colored material thereof for absorbing unwanted wavelengths and/or by shaping the light pipe and/or by use of dichroic filter coatings for reflecting unwanted light wavelengths.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 1994Date of Patent: May 9, 1995Assignee: Eastman Kodak CompanyInventor: Martin C. Patent number: 5410939Abstract: A musical instrument string winding device is set forth for winding the strings on a stringed musical instrument. The device has a hollow housing. A chuck is extended from the housing for receiving a key of a musical instrument. A motor is disposed within the housing and coupled to the chuck for imparting rotational movement thereto. A lamp is extended from the housing for illuminating the chuck. A battery is disposed within the housing for energizing the motor and lamp. A switch is coupled between the battery, motor, and lamp. The switch is operable in one orientation for activating both the motor and lamp, whereby simultaneously allowing a key disposed within the chuck to be illuminated and a string coupled to the key to be wound. The switch is operable in another orientation for deactivating the motor and lamp.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 1994Date of Patent: May 2, 1995Inventors: Brian S. Matamoros, Aaron A. Grodin
