Abstract: Methods and systems for free space communication comprising one or more satellites that may provide a continuous communication link between two or more terminals are disclosed. A first satellite may be configured to send and/or receive data signals from a first terminal through a first link, and a second satellite may be configured to send and/or receive data from a second terminal through a second link. The first satellite and the second satellite may be coupled through a crosslink. The satellites and the terminals may be positioned at a minimum latitude threshold in order to take advantage of the decreasing circumference of the earth at increasing latitudes. The system and the method may comprise dividing the communication pathway between into a plurality of smaller segments, which when linked together approximate an optimal pathway for low latency and enable maintaining of higher bandwidth between the two terminals.

  • Patent number: 11832296
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A communication device, otherwise known as a user equipment (UE) may transmit a random access message (e.g., a message 3) associated with a random access procedure. A hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback may be disabled for the random access procedure. The UE may initiate a contention resolution window associated with the random access procedure for a first downlink data channel transmission of a set of downlink data channel transmissions associated with the random access procedure. The UE may receive, during the contention resolution window, the first downlink data channel transmission carrying a contention resolution medium access control-control element (MAC-CE). The UE may transmit acknowledgment information for the first downlink data channel transmission carrying the contention resolution MAC-CE based on an indication to enable the HARQ feedback.

  • Patent number: 11831717
Abstract: A low-power wide area network supports IP communication between a wireless device and an IP application node. The LPWAN server provides the application node's IP address and a compression/decompression protocol to the device, which applies the protocol (i) to generate a compressed uplink IP header for wireless transmission to LPWAN radio gateway(s), where the compressed IP header is subsequently decompressed to form an uplink IP packet for transmission to the application node and (ii) to decompress a compressed downlink IP header received from a radio gateway, where the compressed IP header was generated from an uncompressed downlink IP header from the IP application node. The device can also segment large uplink IP packets and reassemble large downlink IP packets. In a LoRaWAN network, the join server facilitates arriving at a common compression/decompression protocol and assigns an IP address to the device to enable IP communication with an IP application client.

  • Patent number: 11812465
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. User equipments (UEs) and base stations may communicate in low power modes. A base station may transmit, to a UE, a configuration of a first regulation operating mode for the UE. The first regulation operating mode may be associated with one or more of a first transmit power constraint, a first frequency hopping setting, or a first LBT setting. The base station may transmit downlink communications to the UE according to a second regulation operating mode, which may be different from the first regulation operating mode. the UE may then perform uplink transmissions to the base station according to the first regulation operating mode. In some cases, the UE may also receive signaling advertising the second regulation operating mode of the base station.

  • Patent number: 11778509
Abstract: Enabling Ethernet Header Compression (EHC) for use with data sent within a Non-Access Stratum (NAS) control plane of a wireless communication network. In one aspect, a wireless communication device sends a signal to a wireless communication network indicating the device supports EHC for data transfer over a control plane. The device obtains a response from the wireless communication network indicating the wireless communication network supports EHC for data transfer over the control plane. The device then sends an Ethernet packet compressed using EHC to the wireless communication network over the control plane. The wireless communication device may be configured to send a request to the wireless communication network to use EHC before sending the Ethernet packet compressed using EHC. The device then sends the compressed Ethernet packet only if the request is granted. In another aspects, complementary EHC features are provided within a network component of the wireless communication network.

  • Patent number: 11751024
Abstract: Described are techniques for sharing data among a group of mobile devices that are registered to the same user. In some instances, the shared data is sensor data captured by a mobile device or media content being processed by the mobile device. The mobile devices in the group are configured to wirelessly communicate with each other and to share status information. Using the status information, the mobile devices can keep each other updated as to the operational status of each individual mobile device and, in some aspects, the status of a mobile device with respect to the user. The sensor data or media content can be forwarded to a different mobile device in response to a determination made based on the status information. For instance, forwarding can be based on a rule that specifies one or more conditions relating to the status of a mobile device and/or user status.

  • Patent number: 11689943
Abstract: A first network function (NF) instance sends a request for a session to a second NF instance. The first NF instance receives a response, from the second NF instance, that includes a binding header that includes a failover mode identifier, a designated number of retry attempts, and a retry mode.
