Abstract: Methods, apparatuses and systems directed to enhancing the interoperability of network devices with static native virtual LAN (VLAN) configurations with other network devices where the native VLAN is a configurable parameter. In some implementations, the network devices having configurable native VLANs conditionally add VLAN tags to common Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) Bridge Protocol Data Units (BPDUs) transmitted to network devices where the native VLAN is static and strip any VLAN tags from the common STP BPDUs that are received.
Abstract: Disclosed is a wireless communication system capable of performing demodulation at the receiving side without substantially deteriorating BER characteristics, regardless of carrier frequency error existing among plural wireless communication systems in SDMA of uplink. The wireless communication system includes plural antennas; a MIMO processor that decomposes a reception signal the plural antennas received from plural transmitters into transmission signals transmitted from the respective transmitters; a FFT processor that carries out OFDM demodulation; and a demapping unit that obtains data from signals which were previously converted into sub-carrier signals by the FFT processor, in which the MIMO processor is installed ahead of the FFT processor for sake of the processing sequence of a receive signal, and even though a carrier frequency offset exists in the reception signal MIMO processing is performed prior to OFDM demodulation to split the reception signal from plural transmitters.
Abstract: Site reachability information is determined for a service processing switch that is communicably coupled to one or more sites. In addition, global routing profiles, customer site profiles and OSPF profiles are defined. The profile data, in addition to or instead of the reachability information is used to generate routing configuration data for one or more Virtual Routers and Virtual Private Networks implemented within the service processing switch.
Abstract: To selectively route stand-by packets in input modules to destination output modules via a switching matrix, distributed arbitration functions are executable by successive arbitration cycles. Each cycle comprises: a first phase executable by each input controller to send each output controller requests representative of the quantities of required stand-by packets; a second phase executable by each output controller to determine the quantity of admissible packets depending on the requests; a third phase executable by a central arbitration unit to determine allowed aggregate quantities depending on all the admissible quantities; and a fourth phase executable by each input controller to determine the allowed packet quantities depending on the admissible quantities and of the allowed aggregate quantities.

Abstract: According to this invention, it is possible to display the overall configuration of a network and, at the same time, an important part of the network in detail according to the objective of monitoring so as to be able to grasp/monitor the important part of the network in detail, while globally grasping/monitoring the network configuration, for the purpose of an efficient monitoring operation on the network configuration. A network configuration management apparatus 100 for managing the configuration of a network 101 formed by connecting a plurality of network devices comprises a topology information acquiring section 11 for acquiring topology information on each of the network devices and a degree of importance determining section 12 for computationally determining the degree of importance of each of the network devices, using the topology information acquired by the topology information acquiring section 11.

Abstract: A multi-chassis router allows an administrator to deliver commands from a single interface. Additionally, the multi-chassis router presents a software image consistent with that of a standalone router and uses commands and configurations consistent with those used by a standalone router. The multi-chassis router automatically distributes, processes and responds to administrator commands a single unit, minimizing time required to administer the multi-chassis router. In effect, an administrator does not need to account for the multiple chassis configuration, and an administrator familiar with the control and commands for a standalone router can use that knowledge to effectively control the operation of the multi-chassis router.
Abstract: A method for performing mode-agile communications during a communications session is disclosed. A communications terminal device supporting multiple modes of access is configured to determine when, during a session involving a first mode of access communications, a second mode of access is available and is to be used for subsequent communications for the session. The communications terminal device initiates or controls switchover from one mode of access to another.
Abstract: An implementation of a technology, described herein, for transmitting compressed network transport-layer-protocol headers in a speedy, efficient, inferentially synchronized, and robust manner. An implementation, described herein, models the transmission of compressed headers to the congestion procedure of the network transport-layer protocol (e.g., TCP's). Doing so, the sender of the compressed headers can infer whether the receiver correctly received them. Unlike the slow direct synchronization employed by conventional schemes, this implementation of the present claimed invention inferentially synchronizes by modeling after the congestion procedure of the network transport-layer protocol. This is inherently faster than direct synchronization. Since the implementation performs well over both noiseless and noisy links, it is particularly suited to use over wireless communications channels. This abstract itself is not intended to limit the scope of this patent.
