  • Patent number: 11615560
Abstract: A computer that determines at least an anatomic feature of a left atrial appendage (LAA) is described. During operation, the computer generates a 3D image associated with an individual's heart. This 3D image may present a view along a perpendicular direction to an opening of the LAA. Then, the computer may receive information specifying a set of reference locations. For example, the set of reference locations may include: a location on a circumflex artery, a location between a superior portion of the LAA and a left pulmonary vein, and/or a location on a superior wall of the LAA and distal to trabeculae carneae. Next, the computer automatically determines, based, at least in part, on the set of reference locations, at least the anatomical feature of the LAA, which is associated with the opening of the LAA and a size of a device used in an LAA closure (LAAC) procedure.

  • Patent number: 11615895
Abstract: Computer-implemented methods and systems are provided for curating medical images for a medical image database. An example method for curating involves operating a processor to obtain a query medical image, assign the query medical image to an initial set of related images, and generate a similarity indicator for each image of the initial set. The similarity indicator is representative of a measure of similarity between image data of that image and the initial set. The processor is operable to define an intermediate set from the initial set based on the similarity indicators; and generate a relevancy indicator for each image of the intermediate set. The relevancy indicator is representative of a measure of the relevancy between relevance of the image and the intermediate set. The processor is operable to define a curated set of images from the intermediate set based on the relevancy indicators.

  • Patent number: 11551329
Abstract: Methods, systems, and articles of manufacture to improve image recognition searching are disclosed. In some embodiments, a first document image of a known object is used to generate one or more other document images of the same object by applying one or more techniques for synthetically generating images. The synthetically generated images correspond to different variations in conditions under which a potential query image might be captured. Extracted features from an initial image of a known object and features extracted from the one or more synthetically generated images are stored, along with their locations, as part of a common model of the known object. In other embodiments, image recognition search effectiveness is improved by transforming the location of features of multiple images of a same known object into a common coordinate system. This can enhance the accuracy of certain aspects of existing image search/recognition techniques including, for example, geometric verification.
