  • Patent number: 7941030
Abstract: At the time of recording, only an edition point is recorded (step S4). At the time of reproduction, overlap time (A_overlap) between an audio frame to be reproduced last and an audio frame to be reproduced first, each including a video connection point is calculated and, further, offset time is calculated on the basis of the overlap time (step S12). Reproducing audio data by using the calculated offset time (step S14) enables reproduction be performed without a gap between audio frames around a connection point. Around connection points, by performing a window function multiplying process on audio data, audio samples are seamlessly connected to each other.

  • Patent number: 7925142
Abstract: An information presenting apparatus, based on display status on a screen, estimates text blocks that a user is likely to classify as poor-legibility blocks and is likely to wish to be read aloud. A simple device that allows selecting from the text blocks is provided. A poor-legibility-block extractor divides text to be displayed on the screen into blocks corresponding to individual text blocks, classifies blocks including characters of sizes less than or equal to a predetermined size as poor-legibility blocks, and assigns block numbers to the poor-legibility blocks. A document display unit displays areas of the respective poor-legibility blocks as distinguished from other areas, with block numbers assigned to the respective poor-legibility blocks. When the user presses a numeric key corresponding to a block number, text in the corresponding block is read aloud.

  • Patent number: 7840115
Abstract: An optical disc recording apparatus for recording a video object onto an optical disc. A recording area of the optical disc is divided into a plurality of zones which each include a plurality of adjacent tracks. The optical disc recording apparatus includes: a reading unit for reading from the optical disc the sector information showing data assignment for sectors on the optical disc; a recording unit for recording the video object onto the optical disc; and a control unit for controlling the reading unit and the recording unit. The control unit detects at least one series of consecutive unassigned sectors on the optical disc by referring to the read sector information. Each series has a total size greater than a minimum size and is located within a single zone. The minimum size corresponds to a data amount that ensures uninterrupted reproduction of the video object. The control unit also controls the recording unit to record the video object into the detected series.
