  • Patent number: 10516581
Abstract: Currently, under bitstream access, communications providers are only given limited control over the services they offer. In order to prevent customers being accidently or maliciously reconfigured by a competitor, each communications provider's circuit is isolated from the other communications providers, and dynamic line management profile choice is maintained by the network operator. The present invention proposes allowing greater access to communications providers to configure physical layer configuration parameters associated with a line, through the use of an adaptation gateway. The adaptation gateway is used to manage configuration requests to digital subscriber lines from the communications providers. The adaptation gateway allows configuration of certain DSL line, channel or data path parameters (such as those listed in ITU-T Recommendation G.997.1), but prevents modification to any of those parameters that might affect or cause harm to the service of another line.

  • Patent number: 10517007
Abstract: A node (100, 200) of a cellular network obtains reports of measurements for a given cell (20) of the cellular network. The measurements are performed by one or more communication devices (10) associated with a surrounding cell (21) of the given cell. Each measurement indicates a received signal strength of a signal (RS) from the given cell (20). On the basis of the received signal strengths, the node (100) determines a level of interference generated by the given cell (20) with respect to the surrounding cell (21).

  • Patent number: 10506098
Abstract: A computer-implemented method is described for authenticating the identity of a caller. A mobile computing device receives, via a wireless communications network, an incoming call setup request initiated by a phone system of a caller, and executes an identity service application upon receipt of the incoming call setup request. The call includes a plurality of data packets. The mobile computing device extracts a caller identifier from the plurality of data packets. The caller identifier includes one or more bits at a first predetermined position within the plurality of data packets. The mobile computing device forwards the caller identifier to an identity service computing device. The identity service computing device determines an identity status of the caller. The mobile computing device receives, from the identity service computing device, an authentication token and the identity status of the caller. The mobile computing device displays the identity status of the caller.

  • Patent number: 10462618
Abstract: To provide a possibility to have a near-real-time replay of a pre-empted communication while ensuring that the pre-empting communication is not interrupted, when it is detected that a pre-empting communication is pre-empting a pre-empted communication, the pre-empted communication is buffered to a buffer for a replay, and a safety interval for the pre-empting communication is determined. The pre-empting communication is determined to be ended in response to an expiry of the safety interval after end of the pre-empting communication.

  • Patent number: 10368220
Abstract: A server for controlling user MTC devices. The server ascertains if a user MTC device has an IP connection to a cellular access network, and if so, sends a message to trigger the user MTC device to initiate an application defined in the message. If a user MTC device does not have an IP connection, the server ascertains if the user MTC device is a mobile or a stationary user MTC device, and for a stationary user MTC device, the server sends a message to the cellular access network to trigger the user MTC device to initiate an IP connection, and for a mobile user MTC device, waits until the user MTC device has an IP connection, and for both kinds of user MTC devices, when the user MTC device has an IP connection, transmits a message to the user MTC device to initiate an application defined in the message.

  • Patent number: 10334473
Abstract: A method for reducing radiofrequency interference in a mobile communications device. The method includes receiving, by a first mobile communications device, a frequency message including a frequency band of a second mobile communications device. The method further includes determining, by an electronic processor of the first mobile communications device, whether the frequency band of the second mobile communications device conflicts with an operating frequency band of the first mobile communications device. The method further includes generating, by the electronic processor, an interference message, including a proposed mitigation action, when the frequency band conflicts with the operating frequency band. The frequency band and the operating frequency band each may be a long-term evolution frequency band or a land-mobile radio frequency band.

  • Patent number: 10320971
Abstract: A request to establish a communication is received. For example a request to establish a voice communication is received. The request can be forked to a plurality of communication devices based on an address of record. The address of record is an address associated with multiple communication devices of the same user. The request to establish the communication is stored in a call log entry in a call log. An event associated with the call log entry is received. The event is based information associated with a calling device or a communication device that is not initially part of an established communication session. In response to receiving the event associated with the call log entry, the call log entry in the call log is updated based on the event. The updated call log or the updated call log entry is the sent to the plurality of communication devices.

  • Patent number: 10313998
Abstract: When a cellular telephone is powered down, it sends a power-down message to a network it was previously registered with. If the network does not send, or if the cellular telephone does not receive, an acknowledgement of the power-down message from the network, a status bit referred to as a flag is set (or reset) in a non-volatile memory device in the cellular telephone. The power-down sequence is concluded by the cellular telephone and, the cellular telephone is shut off or put into a reduced power consumption state. When the telephone is turned back on, i.e., returned to its previous state, the flag is evaluated or “tested” to see if it was set (or reset) during the course of powering down.
