Abstract: A system includes a plurality of RFID chips affixed to medical items, a data collection engine device, and a server device. The data collection engine wirelessly transmits power to a first one of the RFID chips and receives first medical data from the first RFID chip while the first RFID chip is activated by the power receiver. The data collection engine generates a first message indicative of the first medical data to be sent to the server device. The server device can determine aspects of the medical items such as position and consumption based upon the first medical data.

Abstract: Various embodiments of the present invention provide for secure and flexible access to the contents of a smart package in the chain of transportation. In embodiments, access is automatically controlled by a security authentication adaptor based on an authentication mechanism that adapts to changing security environments during transportation. In embodiments, a level of required authentication is adjusted depending on situational, contextual awareness that is achieved via sensors coupled to a context state detector to monitor and detect a transportation state of the smart package. Based on the transportation state, a security state machine dynamically adjust a risk level associated with the transportation state and instructs an authentication module apply, in response to an authentication request, one or more authentication methods based on the risk level.

Abstract: A system and method for verifying entry credentials and activating/deactivating an access control system via use of the native capabilities of a mobile device is disclosed herein. Particularly, the system and method include an embedded local control device attached or communicative with an electronic gate or lock. The control device is communicative with a remote access control management system, which is structured to receive, track and manage access tokens that can be used to control access to a gated community or other secured location. Notifications that an access token has been generated can be communicated to the guest(s) by way of text message, short message service (SMS), email, social media, for example. Each notification may contain a unique link to a webpage employing the access token. While in the geographic vicinity of the secured location, the guest may actuate the access token and open the gate.
