  • Patent number: 6169990
Abstract: A computer database for storing information in tuple form wherein each tuple comprises fields with corresponding fields in the tuples constituting a column, generates for each data domain a domain dictionary which matches each distinct data value in that domain with a corresponding distinct token, and stores each domain dictionary. A tokenised store for each data field column is created. All of the tokens for a domain are initially of the same size being substantially the minimum size necessary to provide the required plurality of distinct tokens for initialize size of that domain. When further tuples are received for storage for each field of the tuple, the data value is compared in the corresponding domain dictionary.

  • Patent number: 6161188
Abstract: A microprocessor is provided having selective control features to determine its core-to-bus clock ratio. The microprocessor includes a fuse and buffer/control logic. The fuse, fabricated on the microprocessor's metalization or poly layer, can be blown with a laser during fabrication. When blown, the fuse provides a permanent state that prescribes a fixed core-to-bus clock ratio. The buffer/control logic is coupled to the fuse. The buffer/control logic accepts the permanent state and directs the microprocessor to set the core-to-bus clock ratio to a fix value, thus disabling control of the core-to-bus clock ratio via external clock ratio control signals.

  • Patent number: 6098177
Abstract: A storage unit is provided with at least one head for reproducing servo information from a medium, a processing part for carrying out a servo process to position the head with respect to the medium, and a setting part for setting a ratio of a first time with respect to a sampling time smaller in one of a data read state and a command wait state than in a data write state. The sampling time is made up of the first time in which the servo process is carried out by the processing part, and a second time in which a process with respect to a request from an external host unit is carried out.
