  • Patent number: 9819621
Abstract: This disclosure relates generally to apparatus, methods, and computer readable media for composing communications for computing devices across multiple formats and multiple protocols. More particularly, but not by way of limitation, this disclosure relates to apparatus, methods, and computer readable media to permit computing devices, e.g., smartphones, tablets, laptops, and the like, to send communications in a number of pre-determined and/or ‘determined-on-the-fly’ optimal communications formats and/or protocols. Determinations of optimal delivery methods may be intelligently based on the sender individually or the relationship with the sender in the context of a group of recipients—including the format of the incoming communication, the preferred format of the recipient and/or sender, and an optimal format for a given communication message.

  • Patent number: 9769105
Abstract: In an implementation, a selection of a program is received by a computing device. The program is associated with a duration of time. In response to the selection, a plurality of messages is retrieved by the computing device. Each message is associated with a time during the duration of time. Playback of the selected program is caused by the computing device on a display associated with the computing device. One or more of the retrieved plurality of messages are presented on the display at the times associated with the messages during the duration of time associated with the program by the computing device.

  • Patent number: 9716643
Abstract: The present invention discloses methods and systems for monitoring a network connected device by a monitoring server. The monitoring server sends notifications to the network connected device periodically according to a time interval. The time interval is set to a normal value and the notifications include a request for the monitoring data. Then the network connected device sends the monitoring data to monitoring server upon receiving the notifications. Monitoring server receives and stores the monitoring data from the network connected device. When one condition is satisfied, the time interval is changed to a lower value. Therefore, the frequency of sending notifications to network connected device from monitoring server is changed.

  • Patent number: 9667731
Abstract: Categorizing, colorizing, saving and visually filtering the content and appearance, of a live news feed, within a business or social network. The method involves categorizing information, photos, video and the like, prior to posting it within the live news feed. Each category is associated with a visual indicator so that postings of different categories become distinctive. The live news feed can be viewed in its entirety, by user type, by subject category or a combination of categories. The viewing user may choose categories for limiting information which appears in the live news feed by subject or user type, but may also have the option of viewing all content, which can be visually filtered by color. Users may save information from the central live news feed to their personal pages by choosing from the variety of categories that are also used to filter the live news feed content viewable to them.

  • Patent number: 9498163
Abstract: A method, system, and/or apparatus for automatically monitoring for possible mental or physical health concerns. The method or implementing software application uses or relies upon location information available on the mobile device from any source, such as cell phone usage and/or other device applications. The method and system automatically learns user activity patterns and detects significant deviations therefrom. The deviations are automatically analyzed for known correlations to mental or physical concerns, which can then be automatically communicated to a relevant friend, family member, and/or medical professional.

  • Patent number: 9477491
Abstract: Methods and systems for n-way cloning and synchronization of a user desktop image are provided. Example embodiments provide a Cloning and Synchronization System (“CSS”) which binds a server stored CVD object representing the user's desktop image to one or more endpoint devices. Each endpoint device receives a clone of the CVD object that comprises one or more layers of the server CVD depending upon the suitability of the endpoint device hardware and operating system to the server stored desktop. The cloned CVDs in the endpoint devices are then kept synchronized by synchronization operations. In one embodiment, the CSS allows only one endpoint device to act as a master device and push up changes to the server CVD. These changes are then pushed down to the other devices using different synchronization methods dependent upon the layer.

  • Patent number: 9473372
Abstract: In general, techniques are described for delegating responsibility for performing a connectivity protocol from one or more endpoint devices to network infrastructure situated along a network forwarding path connecting the endpoint devices. In some examples, an intermediate network device includes a connectivity protocol module of control unit that operates a connectivity protocol session on behalf of a server, wherein the server exchanges application data with the client using an application-layer communication session with the client. The connectivity protocol module monitors connectivity for the application-layer communication session with the connectivity protocol session by exchanging connectivity protocol messages for the connectivity protocol session with the client to determine a connectivity status for the communication session.

  • Patent number: 9439038
Abstract: A method, system, and/or apparatus for automatically tracking a mobile user using the user's mobile device. This invention is particularly useful in the field of social media, such as for detecting and tracking the location and activity of a user and her community. The method or implementing software application uses or relies upon location information available on the mobile device from any source, such as cell phone usage and/or other device applications. The social media system can automatically determine a location type and/or user activity from context information. The context information can include current and past location and user and/or community information, time-dependent information, and third party information. The automated location and context information allows for users to set triggering conditions for other users, such as to provide an alert to one user or more users upon a particular action of the monitored other user being automatically determined by the system.

  • Patent number: 9253231
Abstract: A cache device may receive a request for a first segment of an adaptive bitrate stream. The request may identify a particular time interval, of the adaptive bitrate stream, to which the first segment corresponds. The request may further identify a first bitrate at which the first segment is encoded. The cache device may determine a network congestion level of a network associated with the adaptive bitrate stream. The cache device may determine, based on the network congestion level, a second bitrate that is different from the first bitrate. The cache device may obtain a second segment of the adaptive bitrate stream. The second segment may be encoded at the second bitrate. The cache device may store the second segment for delivery to a client device.
