  • Patent number: 11938032
Abstract: A tool and an associated method for removing a prosthetic implant includes a lateral tool, a first impact tool secured to the lateral tool, a medial tool, and a second impact tool. Although the tool can be used to remove a variety of different prosthetic implants, it finds particular application in the removal of femoral implants. Both lateral and medial tools are utilized. The lateral tool includes a generally arcuate shape with upstanding sidewalls that define an arcuate interior. The lateral tool is thus dimensioned to follow the contour of the lateral side of a femoral implant. The medial tool includes opposing side walls that define an interior opening. The opening is sized to receive the neck of the femoral implant, thereby allowing the tool to closely follow the medial bone/implant interface.

  • Patent number: 11931054
Abstract: A guide operates in the creation of a bone spur to facilitate harvesting a quadriceps tendon and includes an end having a width equal to a desired graft width with a terminal slope equal to a cutting angle desired. In use, the guide may be initially positioned parallel to the femur to form guide cuts in the patella. The guide is then rotated ninety degrees to allow an angled cut at the guide cut. The guide is again rotated, this time one hundred eighty degrees and a second angled cut made on the other guide cut. A final lateral cut is made and the bone spur may be lifted from the patella.

  • Patent number: 11931012
Abstract: A vaginal speculum, conical in shape made out of clear plastic resin or metal that when closed can easily and gently be inserted into the introitus (vaginal opening). In certain embodiments, a dilator is used to introduce and/or expand the speculum. Various mechanisms are disclosed for dilating the speculum, after it has been inserted, so as to allow inspection of the patient's cervix. Such dilation can be affected relative to multiple axes, or even in substantially continuous, radial fashion about the periphery of the speculum, for improved visualization. In addition, this speculum has a handle that is oriented such that a vaginal exam can be performed on a standard exam table. The handle also includes a receptacle that receives a standard pen light. A self-contained kit is also provided to facilitate cervical examinations and treatment.

  • Patent number: 11925728
Abstract: The present invention relates to a degradable vascular stent capable of avoiding late restenosis, comprising a base region formed by a polylactic acid based polymer; at least one storage region in which an active agent is stored; and an outer layer of a drug sustained release coating covered on the base region and/or the storage region. Before the mass of the polylactic acid based polymer is decreased by 10-20%, the active agent is retained in structural units of the polylactic acid based polymer. After the mass of the polylactic acid based polymer is decreased by 10-20%, the active agent is released from the storage region. The base region provides a supporting capacity for ensuring patency of blood vessels; the drug sustained release coating is used for drug release in an early stage; and the active agent only works in late degradation of the stent to avoid late restenosis.

  • Patent number: 11903816
Abstract: Full contour absorbable implants for breast surgery redistribute breast volume between the breast's upper and lower poles in exact and desirable ratios. The implants preferably redistribute breast volume so that the upper pole breast volume is 20-40% of the total volume, and the lower pole breast volume is 60-80% of the total volume. The implants are also designed to provide specific curvatures to the poles of the breast, and to angulate the nipple areolar complex slightly skyward so that the patient's nipple is positioned at an angle above the nipple meridian reference line. The implants are designed to be transitory, with sufficient strength retention to allow transition from support of the breast by the implant to support by regenerated host tissue growing in and around the implants, without any significant loss of support during or subsequent to remodeling. The implants may optionally be used with permanent breast implants.
