  • Patent number: 11080287
Abstract: The present teaching, which includes methods, systems and computer-readable media, relates to ranking content from multiple disparate sources including a person's personal data sources and non-personal data sources. The disclosed techniques may include obtaining a plurality sets of content associated with a request from a person, each of which being from a separate data source, and applying a model for each set of content to obtain a set of features for each piece of content in the set of content, wherein the model is specific to a data source from where the set of content comes from. Each set of features for each piece of content of the set of content may be normalized with respect to a common space to generate a normalized feature set. Further, a score for each piece of content from a set of content may be estimated based on the normalized feature set for the piece of content, and based on the score of the piece of content, each piece of content of the plurality sets of content may be ranked.

  • Patent number: 11080280
Abstract: An approach is provided for encrypting data. Using an encryption function, values of keys in a first database table are encrypted. The encryption function is determined to be homomorphic to sorting operators. A decryption function that decrypts the encrypted keys is determined to be homomorphic to sorting operators. Responsive to the encryption and decryption functions being determined to be homomorphic, a merge join operation is selected. The merge join operation operates on the first database table and a second database table and includes the decryption function in a joining condition. Using the merge join operation, an execution of a query is optimized. The query accesses one or more data items in the first or second database table.

  • Patent number: 11074248
Abstract: Techniques are described for generating a map of operations to ingest external data. In an embodiment, DBMS receives a query schema that specifies an external data source and client-defined columns to arrange queried data from data fields of the external data source. DBMS generates an ingest schema for the queried data of the external data source such that the ingest schema specifies ingest data fields from the data fields of the external data source to be mapped to the one or more client-defined columns. Additionally, the DBMS identifies surplus data in the external data source, which has not been specified by the ingest schema and is different from the queried data defined by the client-requested query schema. The process not only ingests the ingest data fields from the external data source but also the surplus data from the external data source. In response to receiving a query according to a different query schema, DBMS generates a result set that based on the surplus data of the external data source.

  • Patent number: 11068541
Abstract: An instruction is provided for performing a vector string search. The instruction to be processed is obtained, with the instruction being defined to be a string search instruction to locate occurrence of a substring within a string. The instruction is processed, with the processing including searching the string specified in one operand of the instruction using the substring specified in another operand of the instruction. Based on the searching locating a first full match of the substring within the string, a full match condition indication is returned with position of the first full match in the string, and based on the searching locating only a partial match of the substring at a termination of the string, a partial match condition indication is returned, with the position of the partial match in the string.

  • Patent number: 11023463
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for receiving, at a data intake and query system, a query that includes a subquery that is to be executed at an external data system that supports a different query language than the data intake and query system. The data intake and query system converts the subquery from the query language supported by the external data system to the query language supported by the data intake and query system. The data intake and query system then processes the query including the translated subquery. The translated subquery is then translated back to the language supported by the external data system including any processing or optimizations performed with respect to the subquery.

  • Patent number: 11017032
Abstract: Systems and methods for the presentation content on client computing devices. A processing component serializes browser data as a set of serialized data portions that can be incorporated into a serialization file. The serialized data portions can be prioritized to determine an order of priority and the serialized data portions can further be processed in parallel. As the serialized data portions are processed, they can be added to the serialized data file with a completion marker. If the serialization process is interrupted before all the browser information is serialization, the browser is still able to utilize any portions in the serialized data file that are accompanied by a completion marker.

Abstract: An information handling system includes a memory to store combined behavioral data and interactional data associated with search queries, and a processing device. The processing device communicates with the memory. The processing device receives a first search query including first search terms, and user context associated with the first search query, retrieves the combined behavioral data and interactional data from previous search queries, analyzes the first search terms using the combined behavioral data and interactional data, generates signals based on the first search terms, the user context, and the combined behavioral data and interactional data, and provides the signals for use in altering results to be provided in response to the first search query.

  • Patent number: 10983953
Abstract: The described technology is generally directed towards domains that data services can use to collect files of a global filesystem namespace into groups. A data service (a domain patron) creates a domain, e.g., for a particular directory, and a domain manager associates files under that directory with domain membership information. Thereafter, the data service can use the domain membership information associated with a file to determine whether to include that file in a data service operation. In one implementation the membership information is maintained in file metadata, facilitating fast and efficient retrieval of the information in near constant time. Exclusion from a domain, hard links, renames and alternate data streams are among the various aspects supported by the domain technology.

  • Patent number: 10963521
Abstract: An approach for parsing and streaming contents of archive files is disclosed. In one embodiment, a client script executed by a web browser parses an archive file based on its archival format, without loading the entire archive file into memory. For example, the client may read only header fields of files inside a TAR format archive file to identify the files therein and their locations, while skipping contents of those files. Having identified files inside the archive file and their locations, the client further reads and processes files that are small enough to be handled by the web browser, while streaming to appropriate endpoints contents of other files such as those that are too large to be handled by the web browser. Such streaming may include slicing large files into sections the web browser can handle and attaching the sections to HTTP requests that are sent to appropriate endpoints.

  • Patent number: 10942819
Abstract: A method and system for performing a volume group structure recovery. A first physical volume is accessed. A last valid volume group backup for a volume group whose volume group structure is to be recovered is retrieved. The volume group is a logical group of one or more physical volumes that include the first physical volume. The volume group backup includes respective volume group identifiers corresponding to the physical volumes of the volume group. An existing volume group identifier is stored in a temporary file with a generated random volume group identifier for identifying the volume group. A set of new volume group identifiers are generated during re-initialization of all listed physical volumes. The volume group identifiers in the last valid volume group backup is replaced with the generated new volume group identifiers. The volume group's volume group structure is restored using a backup structure stored in the temporary file.

  • Patent number: 10915524
Abstract: A computing resource service provider deploys resources to process input data sets on an ongoing basis and provide requestors with queryable data structures generated from the input data sets over determined, rolling periods of time. In one embodiment, the input data sets are processed using one or more nearest neighbor search algorithms, and the outputs therefrom are represented in data structures which are rotated as newer data structures are subsequently generated. The disclosed systems and techniques improve resource utilization, processing efficiency, query latency, and result consistency relative to known controls for large and/or complex data processing tasks, such as those employed in machine learning techniques.

  • Patent number: 10901964
Abstract: A method and system for mapping data elements between a source data structure and a target data structure. A source data element is mapped to a target data element by matching a source key and value pair to a target key and value pair. A parent source Soundex key for each parent element of the source data element is created. A parent target Soundex key for each parent element of a plurality of target data elements snatching the first Soundex key of the source data element is created. The parent source Soundex key for each parent element of the source data element is compared with each parent target Soundex key. The source data element is mapped to the target data element having the parent target Soundex key that matches the parent source Soundex key.

  • Patent number: 10901981
Abstract: A data concurrency module maintains a delta chain for each record that stores the edits made to the flexible record over time. The delta chain stores the edits ordered by a version identifier. When the data concurrency module receives an edit to a record, the data concurrency module compares the version identifier associated with the edit with the most recent version identifier stored in the delta chain for that flexible record. If the version identifiers are different, then the data concurrency module merges the edit with all intervening edits in the delta chain, resolving any conflicts that result from the merging.
