  • Patent number: 11033984
Abstract: Embodiments are directed to laser-based processes for forming features on the surface of a part. The feature may include a geometric element, a color element, and/or a surface finish element. In some cases, the laser-formed features are formed as a pattern of textured features that produce an aesthetic and/or tactile effect on the surface of the part. In some cases, the texture features may be sufficiently small that they may not be discerned by the unaided human eye. Also, in some cases, a multiple laser-based processes are combined to form a single feature or a finished part having a specific aesthetic and/or tactile effect.

  • Patent number: 11008678
Abstract: A method of fabricating a textile structure of varying thickness including using a loom to weave a fiber texture in the form of a strip extending lengthwise along a longitudinal axis and widthwise along an axis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, and causing the texture to be wound under tension onto a mandrel. The texture includes a portion presenting extra thickness. During the winding of the texture, a spacer element is interposed between adjacent turns of the fiber texture onto the mandrel. Each spacer element extends in the width direction of the texture over a portion thereof situated outside the portion of extra thickness and presenting, over the portion of the texture situated outside the portion of extra thickness, a thickness that corresponds at least to the difference between thicknesses of the portion of extra thickness and of the portion of the texture situated outside the portion of extra thickness.

  • Patent number: 10967103
Abstract: The invention relates to self-assembled organosilane coatings for resorbable medical implant devices. The coatings can be prepared from coating compositions containing organosilane and can be applied to metal or metal alloy substrates. Prior to applying the coatings, the surfaces of the substrates can be pretreated. The coatings can be functionalized with a binding compound that is coupled with an active component. The coatings can be selectively removed, e.g., patterned, to expose portions of the uncoated substrate. Selecting different patterns can provide the ability to regulate or control various properties, such as, corrosion and hydrogen generation.

  • Patent number: 10752183
Abstract: A laminated composite interior part includes a first member made of synthetic resin and having a mating surface; and a second member made of elastically deformable synthetic resin and having a plate portion substantially parallel to the mating surface. The plate portion has integrally-formed and interspersed protrusions protruding toward the mating surface. The second member is placed on the first member with distal end portions of the protrusions being in contact with the mating surface. Cushioning properties are provided by elastic deformation of the protrusions, caused as the protrusions' distal end portions are relatively pressed against the mating surface. Flexural rigidity of each of the protrusions against a compressive load is anisotropic about its axis, so that the protrusion is flexurally deformed in one direction about its axis with the distal end portion thereof sliding on the mating surface. Surface roughness of the mating surface is less than 0.20.
