  • Patent number: 11825239
Abstract: In some implementations, a system may establish a video call between a first device associated with a first user and a second device associated with a second user of a communications platform. The system may present a video interface for the video call, the video interface comprising a first video stream generated by the first device of the first user and a second video stream generated by the second device associated with the second user. The system may present a first set of image augmentations selected by the communications platform in the video interface, the first set of video augmentations being selectable by the first user for augmentation of the first video stream generated by the first user device. • Patent number: 11818504
Abstract: A conferencing device includes a power supply, a processor, a video out module, and a USB hub in communication with the processor and drawing power from the power supply. The conferencing device is configured to provide power from the power supply to an external host device in communication with the USB hub, receive control signals and video data from the external host device, and place video data from the external host device at a video out port of the conferencing device. Embodiments herein discuss the switching between and/or simultaneous presentation of video data for placement at the video out port as between two or more external host devices connected to the conferencing device based on the control signals sent from the external host devices. • Patent number: 11800057
Abstract: In a multi-camera videoconferencing configuration, the locations of each camera are known. By referencing a known object visible to each camera, a 3D coordinate system is developed, with the position and angle of each camera being associated with that 3D coordinate system. The locations of the conference participants in the 3D coordinate system are determined for each camera. Sound source localization (SSL) from one camera, generally a central camera, is used to determine the speaker. The pose of the speaker is then determined. From the pose and the known locations of the cameras, the camera with the best frontal view of the speaker is determined. The 3D coordinates of the speaker are then used to direct the determined camera to frame the speaker. If the face of the speaker is not sufficiently visible, the next best camera view is determined, and the speaker framed from that camera view.

  • Patent number: 11792364
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to headset virtual presence techniques. For example, a participant of a communication session may not have an associated video feed, for example as a result of a user preference to disable video communication or a lack of appropriate hardware. Accordingly, a virtual presence may be generated for such a non-video participant, such that the non-video participant may be represented within the communication session similar to video participants. The virtual presence may be controllable using a headset device, for example such that movements identified by the headset device cause the virtual presence to move. In some instances, user input may be received to control emotions conveyed by the virtual presence, for example specifying an emotion type and/or intensity.

  • Patent number: 11785180
Abstract: In some implementations, a computer system identifies multiple sub-sessions of a network-based communication session in which multiple remote endpoint devices each provide media streams over a communication network. For each of the sub-sessions, the computer system can identify the endpoint devices included in the sub-session. The computer system can obtain user state data for each of the endpoint devices, the user state data for each endpoint device being generated based on analysis of face images of the user of the endpoint device. The computer system aggregates the user state data to determine a sub-session state for each of the sub-sessions. During the communication session, the computer system communicates over the communication network with a remote device associated with the communication session to cause a user interface of the remote device to indicate the sub-session states determined for one or more of the multiple sub-sessions.

  • Patent number: 11785179
Abstract: Systems and methods to improve video conferencing may include various improvements and modifications to image and audio data to simulate mutual presence among users. For example, automated positioning and presentation of image data of users via presentation devices may present users at a position, size, and scale to simulate mutual presence of users within a same physical space. In addition, rendering image data of users from virtual camera positions via presentation devices may simulate mutual eye gaze and mutual presence of users. Further, blending a background, or accentuating a user, within image data that is presented via presentation devices may match visual characteristics of the environment or the user to simulate mutual presence of users. Moreover, dynamic steering of individual audio transducers of an audio transducer array, and simulating audio point sources using a combination of speakers, may simulate direct communication and mutual presence of users.
